The Team You'll Work With:

  • The NYC Mayor's Office of Equity (MOE) was established in 2022 and serves as New York City government's centralized equity office. Focusing on developing critical, equitydriven strategies across our diverse communities, MOE includes the Commission on Gender Equity (CGE), the Young Men's Initiative (YMI), and the NYC Unity Project (UP) as well as multiagency bodies like the Pay Equity Cabinet (PEC) and the Taskforce on Racial Inclusion & Equity (TRIE).
  • New York City voters passed three ballot measures in November 2022 to embed racial justice in the heart of City government. The Mayor's Office of Equity is hiring several new staff to develop and lead the successful implementation of these ballot measures and help realize a vision of racial equity in New York City.
  • MOE's staff develop innovative programs, policies, initiatives, and campaigns designed to measurably reduce disparities and promote Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEI&A). As a critical part of the mayor's efforts to build a stronger and healthier city, MOE works across City agencies and external partners to effect meaningful change.   • The Problems You'll Solve:
  • As a senior leader reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, you will oversee and manage the daytoday functions of the Mayor's Office of Equity budget and support the Chief Administrative Officer on contracting processes. The office is undertaking significant transformation and growth, so you will play a key role in establishing new policies, procedures, and processes related to budget planning and management.

Responsibilities:


  • Works with Office leadership to ensure alignment between office budget and strategic priorities.
  • Develops and implements systems, processes, policies, procedures, and guidelines, including the creation of templates and other tracking tools, to allow for a consistent and equitable system of budget planning and management.
  • Oversees all financial matters relating to the office's budget, including personnel and other costs.
  • Maintains projected payroll expenses and oversees budget expenses for the office's daytoday functions.
  • Ensures compliance with citywide rules and oversight regulations and guidelines.
  • Reviews and submits financial transactions for approval, monitors expenses and spending patterns, and implements measures to promote adherence to budgets and accentuate fiscal wellness.
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis of budgets, expenditures, funding requirements, outcomes, and costeffectiveness.
  • Serves as a liaison and collaborative partner to internal and external stakeholders with regards to budget matters and ensures consistent review of budgets through recurring reports representing budgetary, purchasing, and expense data.
  • Provides regular reporting to leadership tracking progress of spending, presenting budgetary issues, developing tracking systems and projections that evaluate financial impact to office and operations.
  • Oversees the preparation of expense budgets by working with counterparts at the NYC Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on the development of financial plans, budget reconciliation, modification, and review.
  • Oversees the budgetary needs and expenses of all new as well as ongoing projects, handles budget allocation, prepares budget proposals, and works with appropriate leadership for approval.
  • Works closely with colleagues on tasks in the City's Financial Management System (FMS) and manages coordinating efforts with agency partners, staff, and other entities on budget management responsibilities, as required.
