This attractive and cosmopolitan city is facing special challenges in order to meet the modern mobility needs of a metropolis, while also addressing climate protection and creating a livable environment.

The task of the Department for Road and Bicycle Path Construction is to redesign the space to meet these mobility needs.

We are responsible for the planning and construction of roads, paths, and squares in the city of Cologne.

Our focus is on the redistribution of traffic space to offer an attractive mobility offer to all participants, while also achieving the goal of climate neutrality by 2035.

This is an interdisciplinary task, which we coordinate.

The Department for Road and Bicycle Path Construction consists of two departments, "Road Planning" and "Road Construction," with a total of around 120 employees in full-time and part-time positions, of which approximately 55 are currently working in the "Road Planning" department.
