Under our streets and buildings lies an extensive network of pipes that provide us with water, internet, electricity, gas, oil, and district heating.

As a pipeline builder, you are responsible for properly excavating construction pits, operating machinery, and laying pipes - as the job title suggests.

You will work outdoors a lot and should be physically fit, as this apprenticeship requires you to be able to work hard.


A variety of tasks await you, including:

  • Constructing pipeline systems and connecting households to the supply network
  • Installing pipeline sections made of various materials such as steel, plastic, and reinforced concrete
  • Connecting individual elements to create a strong and leakproof pipeline
  • Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing older pipelines
  • Monitoring earthworks and operating earthmoving machinery
  • 3year apprenticeship program

This is the job for you if:

  • You have technical understanding and manual dexterity
  • Working outdoors is not a problem for you
  • You are physically fit and enjoy working in a team
  • You have at least a secondary school diploma

Opportunities for advancement:

  • Studying in the field of construction technology or civil engineering
  • Becoming a statecertified technician in construction technology with a focus on civil engineering
  • Advancing to positions such as foreman, site manager, or network manager
