Salary:
$18.00 an hour.


Location:
This position is in INDOT's Plymouth Sub District - Plymouth Unit, Mishawaka Unit, & Rochester Unit.


Role Overview:
Some duties of the seasonal employee will include mowing, painting, running truck parts, patching, etc. Employee will at times assist the Mishawaka, Plymouth, and Rochester units as needed.


A Day in the Life:


  • Complies with INDOT Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Operates basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain, repair, and clean highways and rightsofway.
  • Moves and loads supplies and materials.
  • Performs emergency response activities such as: cleanup, traffic control, lane closures, placement of signs, and erecting barricades.
  • Performs equipment maintenance such as: minor repairs, preventative maintenance, refueling, and pretrip inspections.
  • Performs miscellaneous labor tasks.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

What You'll Need for Success:


  • High school graduate or High School Equivalent (HSE) preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Required to submit to and pass a drug test as a condition of employment.
  • Must have the ability to move/lift 50 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
  • Must have the ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
  • Must have the ability to work unpredictable and nontraditional hours as necessary to perform seasonal operations activities.

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
