Summary:


Responsible for the identification and generation of sales, leads, proposal coordination, customer contacts and sales opportunity closure for the Life Science market segment in the western region.

The focus is to develop direct relationships with pharmaceutical manufactures, university research laboratories, hospitals, government agencies, engineering firms and contractors to drive specifications around the GF pipe, valves and fittings portfolio of products and services.

This position requires up to 60% travel within the region.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Work effectively with company personnel, customers, and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listen to and objectively consider ideas and suggestions from others; keep commitments; solve problems creatively, effectively, and decisively.
  • Through market research, customer contacts and other means, identify the sales opportunities within the Life Science market segment and establish meaningful connections while promoting the value of all GF products and services.
  • Responsible for Key Account development (end users, EPCs, engineering firms and contractors) in the assigned territory.
  • Responsible for collaboration and management of current GF Specification agents within the assigned territory.
  • Responsible for identifying and communicating innovation ideas based from market observations and customer feedback. This includes both product and service opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly highlight reports and develop annual business plans for the Life Science territory.
  • Effectively manage CRM content
  • Effectively utilize our project search engines to mine for upcoming projects and gather engineering, contractor and end user information. Utilizing this information to drive specifications and design assistance/product selection with the engineering firms and design build contractors. Work with these companies from the design stage, construction to completion of projects.
  • Develop proposals by identifying themes and "selling points" and preparing various components such as executive summaries and assist with negotiations.
  • Represent the Company at industry trade shows and exhibitions and participate in thought leadership exercises when appropriate.
  • Deliver customer presentations, trainings and demonstrations of products.
  • Monitor the market (i.e., trade shows, social media, publications, competitive bidding, project activity and requirements and customer/contractor/distributor interaction) and report actions and trends to the team. Become active member of and attend local society meetings such as ISPE & ASPE and help facilitate GF specific seminars with these groups.
  • Work closely with associates on the sales team. Coordinates efforts with other Segment Managers, Product Managers, and company departments to support territory objectives.
  • Complete work accurately and on time, manage travel and sales time in an efficient manner, manage cost center, expenses and meet or exceed personal goals and/or critical performance factors.
  • Act committedly regarding the protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and neighbors. Exhibit the three GF Core Values in daily business activities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Desired Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Sales, Marketing, or related field.
  • Five years industry sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Personal computer skills, familiar with Microsoft Office and CRM.
  • Pass Company postemployment physical, controlled substance testing and background security checks, as required.
  • Indepth knowledge of Company products and services offered.

  • Ability to work with and preserve confidential information.
  • Follows the procedures as presented in the Employee Handbook, Etiquette Brochure, department procedures, captures contact information, and follows verbal, written or diagram instructions as provided by supervisors and managers.
  • Presents a professional appearance and a professional attitude with customers, distributors, vendors, and other company personnel.
  • Ability to drive with a valid driver's license for valid Company reasons.
  • Presents professional communication skills: verbal, written, social.

Working Conditions:


  • Ability to discern an assortment of colors (wires, electronic components, etc.).
  • Ability to perform typical field activities including but limited to:
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds. Occasionally.
  • Climbing ladders.
  • Bending.
  • Reaching.
  • Carrying equipment, tools, demo boxes, etc.
