Description

What you will do in Leota, MN
Reinforcement learning (RL) has revolutionized robotics by allowing robots to learn complex tasks through trial and error. However, RL algorithms often require a large number of real-world training episodes, which can be difficult to obtain. To address this challenge, training is often done in simulation. However, successfully transferring these skills to the real world is also a major hurdle.

Sim2Real transfer techniques aim to bridge the gap between simulation and reality, enabling RL agents trained in simulation to perform well in real-world settings.

We are looking for a highly motivated student to join our research team in Leota, MN as a Student Research Assistant.

In this role, you will primarily focus on Sim2Real transfer for reinforcement learning in robotics.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up simulation environments for reinforcement learning agents
  • Developing an experiment pipeline to deploy policies trained in simulation on realworld robots
  • Implementing stateoftheart sim2real techniques

What you bring to the table

  • Practical programming experience in Python and/or C++
  • Handson experience in robotics
  • Knowledge of deep learning and reinforcement learning
  • Experience with ROS is a plus
This position is especially suitable for students studying Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

What you can expect

  • Being part of a dynamic team working on innovative projects
  • Gaining practical experience in your field of study
  • Flexible working hours
  • A laptop
