From the beginning, surface engineering has served sustainability. By adapting the surface to an application, resources and energy can be saved and sustainable products can be produced. The
Institute of Surface Engineering deals with research and development in joining and surface engineering. The processes used include thermal spraying, physical vapor deposition (PVD), welding, brazing, and soldering. Our dedicated and diverse team addresses current issues in environmental protection and resource conservation. As key technologies for solving these challenges, industrially relevant surface and joining techniques are used in a practical manner.


In the field of
Thermal Spraying, the focus is currently on the
development of coatings that not only have a protective effect, but can also be used functionally as
heating layers.

Through surface heating, thermal energy can be released directly where it is needed.


Your Profile:


  • Aboveaverage degree (Master's or equivalent) in a technical field, e.g. mechanical engineering, materials science, materials engineering, industrial engineering, or a similar program
  • High level of independence and initiative
  • Problemsolving approach
  • Team and communication skills
  • Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken
