Job Requirements


Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions effectively; At least 2 years of hospital experience preferred in similar field; High school diploma or G.E.D.

required; Associate or certificate of completion of scrub technician major courses preferred; Requirement to learn all advanced functions of GI Tech/Scrub Tech through on the job training involving at least 1 year of full-time work in the Endoscopy suite; Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills; Must possess complex decision making skills to plan procedures, and solve both routine and often unexpected problems related to patient care supplies and equipment maintenance.


Physical Standards:


Constantly:
(Exists 75% or more of the time) Standing; walking; reaching (forward, lateral); twisting; lifting and carrying 0-5 lbs.; repetitive lifting and passing instruments.


Frequently:
(Exists 25-75% of the time) Lifting and carrying 5-25 lbs.; pushing and pulling - 100 lbs. (help is available 40

  • 100 lbs.).

Occasionally:
(Exists 5- 25% of the time) Sitting w/back support; reaching (overhead, lateral-low); stooping (bend at waist); crouching (bend at knees); balance; pushing and pulling >100 lbs. (help is available); operating power tools; exposure to radiation, chemical hazards, infect hazards, slippery surfaces.


Rarely:
(Exists under 5% of the time) Sitting without back support; kneeling; climbing; crawling; exposure to vibration, fumes, physical hazards.


Sensory Requirements:
Visual: visual monotony; Hearing: conversation, monitoring equipment, telephone, background noise; Sensory Discrimination (hot/cold, sharp/dull).
