TITLE:
Book Club Adviser


SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Building Principal, the Book Club Adviser is responsible for overseeing students during Book Club meetings

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Book Club meets 1-2 times per month from October through the end of May.

Assist students choosing level and age appropriate authors, genres, and books of interest to read as a collective group and discuss.

Engage students as they read the chosen book over the course of a month or two, depending upon the length of the book.

Meeting 1-2 times monthly to discuss the setting, plot, characters, and theme of the book as well as the genre and writers voice and word choice.

Announce meeting dates, times, and information, manage enrollment, communicate with participants, and organize weekly activities, monitoring students while in their care.


Attend all Book Club meetings

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current member of the Oxford Education Association

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods; position oneself to demonstrate technique; move up to 25 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is generally performed primarily indoors and predominantly in a school classroom.
