The Elbe Waterways and Shipping Office is part of a km2 large career network consisting of over 40 authorities with around employees. More at

  • Maintenance and operation of the hydraulic structures of the Magdeburg Waterway Cross and the power regulation structures on the Elbe between Barby and the municipality of Niegripp
  • Management and control of approximately 54 employees of the Niegripp external district, including the control centers in Hohenwarthe and Rothensee, as well as the district and operations center in Magdeburg
  • Implementation, organization, and monitoring of structural inspections, supervision, and visits
  • Fulfillment of the tasks of the authorized construction representative (fiscal processing of construction measures)
  • Implementation of water police surveillance measures
