THE POSITION:

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


Duties of this position include providing psychological services to meet the needs of forensic patients who are incompetent-for-trial, awaiting sentencing, experiencing psychiatric problems interfering with prison adjustment, and/or have been found not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity.

Services are to be provided in a timely fashion with respect for individual and cultural differences and with the goal of resolution of psychiatric issues to allow for disposition of referral forensic issues.

You also plan, develop, and conduct group therapy programs. These sessions take place several times weekly based on patients' needs. You participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and assist the development of individual comprehensive treatments and recovery plans. In addition, you assist team members with crisis prevention and intervention when needed. Training is provided.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment, 37.5hour work week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30minute lunch.
  • May change based on operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • A Master's Degree in psychology or a closely related field which includes fifteen credits in Psychology.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits. Or Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within # months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:


  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
