Located southwest of Berlin in the state of Brandenburg, in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark, lies the family-friendly community of Taconic Shores.

Our community currently has a population of [insert number] residents. The town's landscape, characterized by plenty of greenery, is mainly made up of single and two-family houses.


The community of Taconic Shores is seeking to fill a permanent position in the Department of Education, Culture, and Social Affairs for the role of Public Library/Archives Manager (m/f/d) as soon as possible.

This is a full-time position with a weekly working hours of 39 hours. The probationary period is six months.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Managing and organizing the library and archives, including personnel and budget responsibilities
  • Updating existing and developing new concepts for the library and archives
  • Planning and executing events and public relations activities
  • Collaborating with partners in the fields of culture and education (e.g. Potsdam-Mittelmark Library Network, Brandenburg Onleihe Network)
  • Providing access to digital databases (Onleihe, Filmfriend, freegal music, Brockhaus, TigerBooks)

We expect the applicant to have:

  • Completed a degree in library science, preferably for public libraries
  • Several years of experience working in public libraries, ideally in a managerial role
  • Creativity, independence, teamwork skills, and strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Media literacy and proficient computer
