The Corporate Communications Team works to amplify SHRM and SHRM executives both internally and externally.

As part of the Communications Team, the Associate Specialist, Corporate Communications is responsible for developing compelling content for executive communications, owning employee engagement, and supporting the communications needs of SHRM subsidiaries with written content and media relations.


Responsibilities:


  • Work in tandem with the Executive Communications Lead to prepare the CEO of SHRM for speaking engagements, including conducting research, preparing talking points and backgrounders, and creating PowerPoint presentations.
  • Draft external communications related to SHRM news or world events that affect SHRM audiences, and work with internal teams on communications dissemination to SHRM audiences.
  • Support the SHRM Data & Insights team, as well as the SHRM Foundation, in their communications needs, including driving communications strategy, writing press releases and executing media relations.
  • Lead employee engagement, including gathering information for and writing the staff newsletter, and work closely with HR on messaging for employeerelated information.
  • Support the CHRO's communications needs, including drafting articles for the blog and trade media.
  • Lead employee engagement events, ranging from social functions to allhands meetings, ensuring all planning and logistics are wellexecuted and meet expectations.
  • Manage internal communication platforms, including the SHRM intranet, optimizing and updating them regularly to consistently enhance the employee experience.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or additional realworld work experience in communications
  • 0 3 years of agency and/or inhouse experience in a communication environment.
  • Eager to work in a fastpaced environment and able to manage a diverse workload with competing deadlines.
  • Able to write strong, succinct copy that requires mínimal edits, including optimizing SHRM materials for consumption by SHRM audiences and journalists.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint.
  • Proactive thinker with the ability to recognize problems and opportunities in advance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • SHRM is a hybrid workplace, where employees are in the office Tuesday through Thursday and work from home Monday and Friday.
  • Expected travel is 10% of the time.
