Professorship for Pedagogy and Didactics for People with Hearing Impairment (Focus on Sign Language):

Our area of work covers pedagogy and didactics for people with hearing impairment in all educational contexts, with a special focus on sign language and its didactics. This includes children and adolescents with peripheral hearing loss or deafness (with and without cochlear implants) as well as those with central impairments in auditory processing. This group of people is very heterogeneous and requires individualized concepts for promoting their linguistic and socio-emotional development throughout their educational career.

YOUR TASKS

  • Collaboration in the conceptualization and creation of digital assessments for signing children aged 415. This specifically includes adapting the Webbased British Sign Language Vocabulary Test (BSL-VT, Mann, 2011) for DGS (DGS Vocabulary Test, DGS-VT).
  • Collaboration in the publication of the project
  • Maintaining contact with the deaf community

YOUR PROFILE

  • Completed degree in special education teaching
  • Native proficiency in DGS
  • Basic knowledge of linguistics
