Secondary Department Lead plays a crucial role in overseeing production flow, maintaining general production housekeeping, and managing employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing and directing all machining & finishing operations and personnel as needed.
  • Assigns daily workload to Machining & Finishing Dept. personnel as needed.
  • Operates all machines, including CNC's, Shot Blaster's, Vibratory, Drill Press, Belt Sander's, and Hot Dip Wash Tanks.
  • Completes machine setup and troubleshooting.
  • Checks parts on CMM.
  • Performs CNC program edits as needed.
  • Completes tool changes such as replacing and presetting tools.
  • Inspects castings using various hand inspection tools, leak testers, and air gauge equipment. Maintains record of inspections.
  • Performs floor rounds and verifies production and quality of parts.
  • Operates forklift to deliver/remove parts to maintain continuous production.
  • Develops and documents new procedures/work instructions as needed.
  • Trains new employees on daytoday operational tasks and safe work habits
  • Cleans and maintains machines and ensures work area is clean and orderly.
  • Supports and follows the QMS requirements.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.
  • Observes all Boyd safety and OSHA guidelines and procedures.

Requirements:


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate with employees on a professional level at all times.

General Knowledge and Abilities

  • Previous factory experience is required.
  • Basic reasoning skills and language skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business paperwork.
  • Ability to complete production paperwork.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions/requests from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Basic knowledge of machining practices.
