This morning I took the time to peruse a couple of social media sites and again noticed that the overall focus was negative. In many of the posts the stated agenda was to warn or bring to light one of many concerns. But the overall color of the post was negative. It seems that in many of the countries and indeed societies I have access to the atmosphere is negative. With so much good going on why does the negative receive all the attention?

I expect the focus is on the negative simply because it has a higher chance to cause a reaction. And as we all know a reaction is an action that results from little or no thought, it is the result of emotion. What I mean by this is that if we want to see our posts and comments spin out of control or as they say “go viral” people need to react and not actually ponder what I am saying. Thinking people have a higher chance to act in a way that promotes growth even in poor situations. People who react have a greater tendency to do as they are told.

To this end negative posts and stories have a higher circulation rate and a higher interaction rate creating a perspective that everything is spiraling out of control. So instead of believing every story or even reading them, intentionally look for something good. I do not expect it will take you that long and it will certainly improve your day and your expectation for the day.

There is so much good going on there is no need to let the negative rule our perceptions.

Blessings

"It appears though we have an outcome driven media that is just a Shakespearean view of the worst of humanity." Very nicely phrased. Thank you for taking the time to add your thoughts.

I enjoyed your observations. Within the media in general i too have witnessed the seemingly endless dramatization of humanity. All that is bad and requires saving. The story sounds familiar but has the twist of the human that will save us all from the bad. It seems the dramatization sets us up for the new human that will objectively save us from ourselves. History teaches about many of these folks who rose to power with all the saving options and it did not end well for many humans. This is an old story that has played out over the millennia. One would assume that we can learn our lessons from history. Each new generation tends to detach from the sacred learned through trail and error. Only to find the lessons in the end. Opportunity is where we should live and not dramatization. It appears though we have an outcome driven media that is just a Shakespearean view of the worst of humanity.
