You are the Problem, and You are the Solution
I was listening to an audio today, and the part I remember most is when the guy’s girlfriend told him to stand in front of a mirror. She said to him, “You are your own Problem, and the Solution.”
That quote has so much meaning to it. The first part of this quote, can seem hurtful, because it brings forth the Truth. Yes, everyone has circumstances in our lives that we can not control. But, it is our choice to allow these events to because obstacles in way or excuses to head a different direction in life. You can control you life or allow your circumstances become a dictator of your life.
So take this quote in a form of professional criticism. For example, a few years ago, a friend of mine asked if he could give me advice. He told me something similar. He told me that I the point I was in my life was do to all the choices I’d made in the past. If I don’t like my life, I need to stop blaming God, or the world, because I’m the one who took the actions after the events occurred.
We need to keep on the vector we want, which is our Vision. God means for things to happen to us. It help builds our faith and us, and it's part of His grand plan. I love to use the story of Joseph in the Old Testament. Even though Joseph was sold into slavery and thrown into prison, these circumstances never change his mindset.
Next, if we are not pleased or want change, we need to realize we are the solution. This is what is the hardest because now we need to take action and we know it’s in our hands. Maybe it’s our how we spend our time. For example, it could be what we read, who we associate with, what we listen to, or even how we handle opportunities given to us.
One change that I personally made was where I was spending my time. God loves everyone equally and gives us each 24 hours a day. I was wasting so much of that time watching TV, and playing video games. So, instead of wasting my time, I’m now investing it.
I’m going to buy my time back. I not going to trade my time for money in a job for the rest of my life.
Another important factor is we may be our own solution, but nobody can do it by themselves. So don’t be afraid to ask for help. That’s what God wants us to do, go and help others. Build a team.
