Where do we go from here?
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don't much care where—” said Alice.
“Then it doesn't matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“—so long as I get SOMEWHERE,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, you're sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”
Some days are harder, more stressful, and maybe more frightening than others. So are some choices. It can be hard to know which way to turn, where to go.
For me, Lewis Carroll's hookah-smoking caterpillar stressed the need for a destination.
“Take the first step in faith.
You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
...Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Yes, it's hugely important to know the end result that you want. I'm sure the "caterpillar" would agree. However, we don't have to see each inch of the highway to get on the road to the journey's end.
Driving at night, we can only see as far down the road as the headlights project their illuminating beam of light. However, as we keep going, the light keeps moving ahead of us and we continue toward our destination.
Whether we crawl, take baby-steps, or run, we have to get moving. Beep-beep! Just get in the car!
