What matters to you?

What matters to you?

Each and every day of our lives we make choices, each one designed to move us forward on our path to success. Now it is true that there are some days that these choices seem to take a side road that appears to not have anything to do with the path we normally take. Some times this is due to current needs but also they could be due to changes in the way we are thinking. But each choice is determined by what it is we believe matters.

So what matters? Each of us will answer this question based on our own perceptions and upbringing. The expected answers are of course; family, security, and health. But are these the actual answers to the question? I am beginning to believe they are not. Or more accurately they are not as simple as these three “core” answers.

Life is very complex yet also very straightforward. We each have made choices to get us to where we are. We often evaluate where we are and determine if the choices we are making are achieving the results we desire. But I expect we don't often stop to evaluate the goal, the what actually matters to us.

If you have how has it modified your choices? Does it create a clear path to success or did it change the path completely? One of the greatest truths I have found is that my goals do not have to be the same as yours simply because we are not the same person. Will we have overlapping goals, certainly. But our agendas for those goals might not overlap at all so how we continue to choose will vary. This is very much okay.

So what matters to you? Are your choices leading to the goals that will achieve goals that matter? Are you living a life that is sustainable? To be honest I do not care if your company or product is sustainable is your life is not. You are what is valuable not what you do. You matter to me. Please choose well.

Blessings.

Sometimes, Greg, we don’t always have the freedom of choice that we’d like. As an example, back in the days when we could all fly, I was seated in the last row. The dinner trolley was slowly coming down the aisle and the choices were chicken breast or German sausage. I ended up hoping for the breast but preparing for the wurst.

Fay Vietmeier Excellent point Fay! It is common for men to often mix the two ideas of who we are with what we do. With the result of making choices based on job not based on who we are. Have an amazing Week!

Greg Rolfe Good point Greg The "who of you" is not what you do It can be said: Who we are & where we arrive on the last day is the sum of our decision & choices I love how Dr Benzio of the Lighthouse Network concludes all his "Transformational Thoughts" ... Stepping Stones devotional "So choose well" As you have equally well concluded: "please choose well"

Vivian Chapman It has been said: "be careful what you wish for" Our "desires" are not always "right" or good for us "Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart." ~ Psalm 37 If I love what "delights" God ... good will follow I am learning that the Lord knows the "desires of my heart" better than I do Be well & blessed Vivian ...

Vivian you are correct. We often obtain what we strive for but it is not always what we truly desire or need. Which is why many who look like they have succeeded live lives that are not content. Thank your for joining the conversation!

Don’t really do goals I must say maybe a vague aspiration not to be a jerk I suppose that’s an objective in itself 🤔
