“WORDS” ©

Words can be TRUTH or words can be lies

Words can be foolish or words can be wise

Words can be crooked & words can be straight

Should you be honest or do you hesitate?

Words can wound or words can heal

Words of strife .. our peace can steal

Words can DIVIDE .. or words can ignite

A nation .. a family .. to fight or UNITE

Words can make or break a deal

.. break us apart or help us heal

Words of LOVE can hate erase

Like soothing balm .. strife replace

Words can take you captive & words can set you free

Well-reasoned words can make a plea .. help us even better see

Harsh words turn a heart to stone

“Kind words” it is said “heal bones”

Let us first our words rehearse

For words can BLESS or words can curse

And human speaking is an art

Words do reveal what is in the HEART.

I wonder if people hear themselves as others do?
I wonder if people know the gravity of their words?

It is written:

“If anyone speaks he should do it as one speaking the very words of God” ~ 1 Peter 4:11

“For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. I know that His command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.” Jesus Christ (John12)

“But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the Day of Judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Jesus Christ (Matthew 12 & Luke 6)

Have you ever killed a person with your words? Knowingly or unknowingly ... we all have.

It is written: “The tongue has the power of life and death” ~ Proverbs 18:21

The air is filled with NOISE

.. “polished platitudes” at best

.. hate-full rhetoric filled with racial slurs at worst

Increasingly there is much abuse & misuse of words.

.. especially by those  by those seeking political power

.. by those in the media .. who have lost the Standard of Truth

If they could only hear what their words say about them.

The more I hear the divisive vitriol from the “Society of Solipsism” (fem-v) the more inspired I am to write & speak .. to challenge the “Society” whose members seem bent on tearing-down rather than building-up.

Demolition is easy .. as is criticism.

Once you tear down the ground is filled with the ruins.

Being an architect that builds/builds-up is hard. As is finding solutions that contribute to a better world.

Building-up often means taking a high road. The climb is usually fraught with risk, challenge & negativity.

I loved the science fiction quadrilogy by Kay Kenyon: The Entire & the Rose

In this series Kenyon created many beautiful & interesting sentient creatures for the Entire. Creatures not of earth but mirroring earth. One of them, the onyx are horse-like creatures. Riders are blinded & bound for life to their mount.

No bridle or reins. They communicate “heart-to-heart.”

I often ponder how improved earthly relationships might be if we too, learned to communicate “heart-to-heart” & use edifying words.

It is written:

“Every Word of God is flawless” ~ Proverbs 30:5

“Wisdom calls…pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words.” ~ Proverbs 1 & 4

“A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver” ~ Proverbs 25:11

“For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” ~ Luke 6:45 ~ Matthew 12:34

A thought about “Words”

God’s is Infinite & His Word is Revelation … God is the Source of knowledge, wisdom & TRUTH

The words of human beings are human opinion. Merely speaking words do not produce desired outcomes because we are finite beings … if I could plant words of transformation in the soil of humanity here are some words I would sow:

LOVE ~ Truth ~ Wisdom ~ Grace ~ Honor ~ Excellence ~ Justice ~ Righteousness ~ JOY ~ Forgiveness ~ Generosity ~  Humility ~ Goodness ~ Kindness ~ Respect ~ Reason ~ Thoughtfulness ~ PEACE

“The words we speak become the house we live in.” Hafiz Shirazi

“Let your conversation be always full of  grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” ~ Colossians 4:6

Truth:

"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the Day of Judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” ~ Matthew 12 & Luke 6

As I was concluding this song came to mind: Do you hear what I hear?

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy "Do you hear what I hear?"

"Do you know what I know?" said the King to the people everywhere

Listen to what I say "pray for peace people everywhere"
Listen to what I say "I will bring you Goodness and Light"

"In His Light" .. I write

How I wish your "hive" was not half way around the world .. but even here I know you "see & feel" I forgot to say before that a "beautiful mind" is only eclipsed by a beautiful heart ;~) .. that pathway is "Divine Art" https://www.bebee.com/producer/@fay-vietmeier-pennsylvania/human-onions-divine-art

@AliAnani As always Ali your brighten the heart of this "bee" with your sharing, caring heart Poets are often not recognized or rewarded The world we live in values other things Focused is on externals & "success" is defined by your bank account - material possessions Musicians often use the work of poets (if not their own words) and are more likely to be recognized/rewarded I love & place high value on Wisdom I treasure those who possess the ability to convey beauty or wisdom in poetry

Fay Vietmeier. We should arrange a competition to see who wins!!! You are a gifted poet dear Fay. No question. Your words are simpleand flowing. I believe a great poet uses simple words with as minimum syllables as possible to keep the flow. Poets who use complicated words pit me off. Fay, I am sure you have more talents to be discovered.

Renoy George Renoy~your are most welcome. Thank you for reading my "Words" and commenting. I appreciate your sharing from Psalm 91 ... the assurances are beautiful. There are many promises in God's Word that speak uniquely to each searching heart. A confirmation that His Words are "living" Words ... Many of those Words are written on my heart and overflow form my mouth. In my own prayers: for decades ... ongoing I "thank God for the place of safety beneath His everlasting arms ... I sing in the shadow of His wings" ... "grateful that His reach is never short" ... and "His Word is never void" Many years ago … when beginning to write, I took inspiration from Psalm 36 for it is “in His Light” that I write ;~) “For with you (Lord) is the fountain of life; In Your light … we see light.” Psalm 36:9 Wishing God's rich wisdom and blessings upon your life & work ~ Fay

The Arab poet said long times ago that"the wounds of words are more hurting than the wounds of sharp swords". Yes, and you are are right Fay Vietmeier. Not only you support the old wisdom, but also you add more depth and meaning to it. You spoke to my heart.

Sometimes I'm not sure whether I'm lost for or lost without words. Do I or do I not know the words I want to use? What can I say?

Ken Boddie

4 years ago #5

Let's choose the words we borrow carefully, then sow them in fertile imagery. Only then can we cultivate a sentence and harvest a story. https://www.bebee.com/producer/@ken-boddie/my-words
Words are most important when spoken wisely.
