Trial and Error
Today at the job one of the guys I work with was talking about the Trump impeachment failing. He was wondering about the way politics were going and I could tell he was worried. He was wondering how many people on the Democratic party were actually going along with him in secret or as part of their own agenda because nobody can succeed in politics and go it alone.
He was bringing up good points and I was wondering where he was going with what he was saying so I kept quiet and didn't say anything. I started thinking to myself I have my own mistakes I've made and problems to fix to worry about what President Trump and Congress is doing wrong. Since he's a likable guy I just kept my opinion to myself.
Then he started talking about the virus coming out of China and things he was reading on the internet that were making him wonder if we're living in Biblical times. Since my mom is a Christian and I don't want her preaching to me next time I go home or call her I still kept quiet.
It's good to talk about the things you think are important and since sometimes you can learn something you didn't know from listening to people I tend not to interrupt people when they have something t say. But he was getting too negative so I finally spoke up.
I told him that when things happen that I have no control over and can't do anything about I don't waste my time worrying about them and live my own life. It's not like you have any say in what other people do so I just try to keep my own life going in a good direction.
That seemed to help bring what he was saying in a positive direction. He started talking about spending more time with his family so if the end actually did come he would be around the people he cared about.
I read somewhere your intentions for others come back to visit you. I think sometimes they come back to haunt you. I don't know about the end of days or claim to have be smarter than anyone or have any answers that are better than a scientist or someone in congress or a preacher.
But I think when you start acting responsible for what someone else does you are setting yourself up to take a fall. Maybe I'm wrong but I think it's better to keep moving in a positive direction and stay out of someone else's lane.
I hope my friend stops letting other people's negativity drag him down.
