The way you CLOSE the shop is the way it OPENS

I listened to an audio by William Wood, creator of the Max Performance Mastercourse and Co-Creator of the LifeStyle Profits Academy. A technique that he brought up in that teaching was intriguing. How you do this teaching will determine tomorrow’s success.

William said that “The way you close the shop is the way it opens.”

Such a simple concept – and it’s has as much to do with how you approach your PERSONAL situations every day, than your BUSINESS activities. As I thought about it, I stopped listening to William and thought about those words. They were so impacting that I had to start the audio back from the start since my mind was focused on what he just had said.

See, every night you still have a choice to make. What are you going to do to set yourself up for success the next day? But most people, especially home business owners, make one massive mistake at the end of the day which ruins ANY chance of success.

Try to imagine that you own a clerk shop that just had a terrible day. You had noisy customers, one of your shelves was knocked over, someone spilled a soda on the floor right before closing, and the shipment for the next day came in late and is still in the boxes. Now, right before you close, you can choose to clean it up and get it organized for your morning shift of the next day or you can flip the sign and go home.

Now, imagine the next morning. If you decided to take it easy and go home, all the problems from the night before are still there and could even be worse. The soda on the floor is now sticky and dry. Instead of just wiping it up with a mop, you now have to scrub harder. You still have to put out that day's merchandise which was in the boxes, yet they need to go up on the shelf that was knocked over the day before. To make the matters worse for you, your store is about to open. Customers are waiting to come in and ask for your goods. You are now trying to multi-task and never can give anything 100% focus. Finally the end of this shift is over, and you realize the floor is finally clean, the shelf is up, but not all the merchandise is out yet. Your now asking yourself, "Do I leave or do I put it away?"

Our Minds are like this when we go to bed. This is an example of our nights. Looking at myself, sometimes I might a situation on my mind like a conviction on my heart that I want off. I might want to apologize for someone I’ve wronged. Yet, I tell myself, “I do it in the morning”. I wake up, and I have a pit in my stomach from the conviction from the night before. Now, the 'customers' or circumstances of life start to come. I can’t stop them, it’s just life. This might get push off til the end of the day again, and before I know it, it bed time again and that conviction is still there starting to build a compounding effect of problems in the morning.

This also happens when I watch television before I go to sleep. So, I began to journal more before I go to bed, and also reading or writing articles. It is a way of “organizing my store” and making sure that everything is off my “to-do” list for that day. Then when I wake up in the morning, I will not have any extra baggage and can be truly refreshed.

How are you going to leave "leave your store" each night?
