The truth about how little we actually know

The truth about how little we actually know

15ff7259.png

When standing in the sand warming your feet you can only see the top of the vast ocean before you. As you wade out into the water your vision does not change, you can still only see the top of a vast ocean only now you are wet. Wade still further out and the waves begin to affect you causing you to sway and even pause as you encounter each one. At this time you have more reaction with the ocean you were watching but your view is still the same, you only see the top of this vast ocean. Yes you have much more interaction with it, in fact it is beginning to cause you to react to its power and presence, but your view has yet to change. It is not until you plunge your head beneath the waves that your vision changes. Though in this case not for the better. You can see very little of the vast ocean in front of you, even with protective eye care.

In our current ways of measuring the truth of a situation we are only able to sample a very small sample of all that exists. We gather all we can and make assessments based on that input but the truth is what we have gathered is insignificant to the vast amount of data that is out there. Yes we must come to some conclusions in order to proceed but I would advise that you hold your positions loosely while waiting for more data to be collected.

Regardless if we are starting a counseling session or beginning a new business, we gather the best information we can to start, but just like the ocean we are touching just the fringe of the available data. So yes gather what you can but stay alert to changes in the tide and the flow of the water around you, in truth you never know what two steps forward might bring.
