The Dumbing Down of the World

“I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or
grandchildren’s time when we're a service and
information economy; when nearly all the key
manufacturing industries have slipped away to other
countries; when awesome technological powers are in
the hands of a very few, and no one representing the
public interest can even grasp the issues; when people
have lost the ability to set their own agendas or
knowledgeably question those in authority; when,
clutching our crystals and consulting our horoscopes,
our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish
between what feels good and what's true, we slide,
almost without noticing, back into superstition.”

~Carl Sagan (1934-1996)

Scary thought, ey?聽 I鈥檝e been on this planet for nearly 70 years and have watched it being done.

It provoked consternation to see what was going on but not be able to 鈥榗onnect the dots.鈥櫬 Those dots have been connecting like mad over the past 3+ years. My life had revolved around my offspring for most of my decades.聽 It had been necessary because of damage they had suffered鈥攏ot at my hands but at the hands of others.

聽I went back to a love of mine鈥擨nvestigative Journalism.聽 What I have learned is mind-boggling to be sure.

Television was one of the worst things that could have happened to the American people.聽 And that man I voted for twice [no less] made it worse by changing this:

Charlotte Iserbyt served as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI), U.S. Department of Education, during the first Reagan Administration, where she first blew the whistle on a major technology initiative which would CONTROL curriculum in America's classrooms.聽

Iserbyt is a former school board director in Camden, Maine and was co-founder and research analyst of Guardians of Education for Maine (GEM) from 1978 to 2000. She has also served in the American Red Cross on Guam and Japan during the Korean War, and in the United States Foreign Service in Belgium and in the Republic of South Africa.聽

Iserbyt is a speaker and writer, best known for her 1985 booklet Back to Basics Reform or OBE: Skinnerian International Curriculum and her 1989 pamphlet Soviets in the Classroom: America's Latest Education Fad which covered the details of the U.S.-Soviet and Carnegie-Soviet Education Agreements which remain in effect to this day. She is a freelance writer and has had articles published in Human Events, The Washington Times, The Bangor Daily News, and included in the record of Congressional hearings.

These 10 Corporations CONTROL Almost Everything You Buy

Only 10 companies control almost every large food and beverage brand in the world.

These companies Nestle, Pepsico, Coca Cola, Unilver, Danone, General Mills, Kellogg's, Mars, Associated British

Foods, and Mondelez each employ thousands of employees and make billions of dollars in revenue every year.

In an effort to push these companies to make positive changes and for customers to realize who controls the brands
they're buying Oxfam created a mind boggling infographic that shows how interconnected consumer brands really
are.

Here's a further breakdown of the companies that own the brands and products we use every day.

The Nuremberg Code (1949)

The voluntary consent of the human subject 15 absolutely essential

This means that the person involved should have legal capacity to give consent
should be 50 situated as to be able 10 exercise free power of choice, without the
intervention of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress, over-reaching, or other
ultenor form of constraint of coercion, and should have sufficient knowledge and
comprehension of the elements of the subject matter involved, 2s to enable him to
make an understanding and enlightened decision This latter element requires that,
before the acceptance of an affirmative decision by the experimental subject, there
should be made known to him the nature. duration, and purpose of the

expenment, the method and means by which it 1 to be conducted, all
inconveniences and hazards reasonably to be expected, and the effects upon his
heath or person, which may possibly come from his participation in the
expenment

The duty and responsibility for ascertaining the quality of the consent rests upon
each individual who initiates, directs of engages in the experiment It 1s a personal
duty and responsibility which may not be delegated to another with impunity

The experiment should be such as 10 yield fruitful results for the good of society.
unprocurable by other methods or means of study, and not random and
unnecessary in nature

The experiment should be so designed and based on the results of animal
experimentation and a knowledge of the natural history of the disease of other
problem under study, that the anticipated results will jusafy the performance of
the experiment

The experiment should be so conducted as to avoid all unnecessary physical and
mental suffening and injury

No experiment should be conducted, where there 1s an a priors reason to believe
that death or disabling injury will occur, except. perhaps. in those experiments
where the experimental physicians also serve as subjects

The degree of risk 10 be taken should never exceed that determined by the
humarutanan importance of the problem to be solved by the experiment

Proper preparations should be made and adequate facilites provided 10 protect the
expenmental subject against even remote possibilities of jury, disability, or
death

The experiment should be conducted oaly by scientifically qualified persons The
highest degree of skill and care should be required through all stages of the
expenment of those who conduct or engage 11 the experiment

Dung the course of the experiment, the human subjoct should be at liberty 10
bring the expenment to an end, 1f he has reached the physical or mental state,
where continuation of the expenment scemed 10 him to be impossible
