The Branding Strategy You Must Master In 2018
I want to share with you three specific strategies you can deploy to elevate your brand to new levels in 2018. Recently, some insights from marketing leader, Neil Patel, about the top strategies.
About Neil Patel
The Wall Street Journal calls Neil Patel a top influencer on the web, Forbes says he is one of the top 10 online marketers, and Entrepreneur Magazine says he created one of the 100 most brilliant companies in the world. He was recognized as a top 100 entrepreneur under the age of 30 by President Obama and one of the top 100 entrepreneurs under the age of 35 by the United Nations. Neil has also been awarded Congressional Recognition from the United States House of Representatives.
In 2018, a survey was conducted by Neil. The purpose of Neil’s survey was to find out what causes people to engage and remember his own global brand. The results were quite revealing.
The top two answers he received were:
A.) Seeing him speak at conferences
B.) Watching videos of him on YouTube
Both of these strategies correlate directly because many of his conference talks were recorded and then uploaded onto YouTube. Many of his live conference attendees would say to him in person, "Hey, I watched a video of you on YouTube.” And this powerful combination of people seeing him in person and on YouTube is what has helped him the most to build personal connection and brand loyalty.
And this same strategy can be quite a tour-de-force for your brand as well.
A lot of companies are sending people out there to speak as well as creating YouTube videos. They too are creating a loyal audience for their brand. In the long run, I forecast that these are the most effective strategies to build a top-of-mind brand in 2018.
Add Podcasting To That Branding Mix
Per Neil, doing his podcasts as his third content strategy has also been a key element for building awareness and brand loyalty. The creation and distribution of live presentations and video content repurposed as podcasts, is just another key tactic which is putting his brand at top-of-mind.
A big element in branding is being top-of-mind, whether you're seeing someone in person at a conference, watching a YouTube video, or you're listening to a podcast. All of that content creation and distribution is a major factor in what we call “branding.”
Why Your Brand Needs a Multi-Platform Strategy
The other factor to be aware of when building a strong brand in 2018 is that the market is very fragmented. There's not one dominant player in most of these niches, especially when it comes to digital content creation, how people view content, how audiences see content on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
And yes, Facebook is still the big social media player out there.
So when you create the content, you have to publish and repurpose your content in many places to create an omnipresence for your brand.
For example, you can take your video, select the audio portion of it and then create a podcast and put it on to iTunes. In that way you can get more people listening to you and building that connection to your brand.
You can take your video content, transcribe it and creates blog posts out of it. From there publish these same blog posts on LinkedIn, Medium and Quora.
Moreover, you can repurpose your Facebook Live videos and upload them to YouTube. There are so many possibilities. You can even add it to your blog with translated versions of your content, the video content, adding subtitles, and putting those videos on other blogs through guest-posting.
By executing all these different strategies, you’'ll build up a memorable and profitable brand in the long run.
