Technology Challenged

Since the class I wanted to take at Cornish filled up for the year while I was working on my portfolio I’ve been looking for another art school and playing chess in the park. Sometimes I go to my son’s food truck for lunch. I’ve pretty much been seeing what the day brings me.

One of the things I found out is some of these guys out here think chess is more than a game to pass the time. They take the game way too serious, at least for me. They get mad if they lose. It’s almost as if they get part of their identity from the game. They even call themselves “Chess Players.”

Seems kind of strange to me, but I don’t say anything to them. If I do they probably won’t want to play me and I’ll have to find a new hobby.

I found an art school called Pratt. They have a lot of interesting courses, but you can’t get a degree there. I think it’s for artists who start to go into business on the side. That might be something I can do. Maybe I’ll have a side business and go to school part-time. 

I think that would be a good thing if I find something I really like doing.

I went and got a new phone the other day. I had one of those flip phones you pay a monthly rate for at WalMart. I had to go back to the place I got it to have them show me how to answer a call. There aren’t any buttons on the phone, it’s just a screen. That made me feel like an idiot. I think I might be technology challenged. I wonder if they’ll give me a handicapped parking sticker for that.

Probably not, I’ll probably get told not to fall behind. Hey but at least I know about something I have to work on.
