Tales Of A Long Over Due Vacation - The Outer Banks Felt Like home

Tales Of A Long Over Due Vacation - The Outer Banks Felt Like home

With Photos

September 30th creeped up on me very fast. Some of you already know that Pamela 🐝 Williams. The food and atmosphere was fantastic, great start to our vacation. The Restaurant is Oceanfront and they even grow their own herbs and some vegetables too! We headed back to the Condo and my beach day(s) began the next day!

Pam brought her computer and an extra monitor to do work early in the morning and at night. Sadly, she encountered issues that needed her detail during the week and she was tethered for a good 4 days to her computer. She handled it well but I felt bad because I would tell her I'm going to go here, or do this or that while she worked. She assured me it was OK.

I walked the beach almost daily and averaged 3 miles per day on the beach with the exception of 2 days. I was in my element. I'd be in top notch shape if I had the beach / ocean at my back door!

Here are a few photos from my daily walks on the beach

I headed over to Manteo on Roanoke Island, here are some photos from my day trip. Quaint Town, great boardwalk with beautiful views and easy exercise! I took a lot of photos from the boardwalk and in town. I will leave you with a few.

Sorry to the dude on the Water Board, I don't know him but it made for a great photo op.

I stopped at a Pub/Brewery in Manteo called the Lost Colony. Great place to just chill, people watch and take in the scenery around you. I chose to sit on the outdoor patio and yes, you will see my purse in a photo (my husband made fun of me for leaving my purse on the table). The brie was so tasty, it came with a cranberry sauce, homemade bread, apples, shaved almonds and balsamic vinegar. A few guys I know, like to call it ball slapping vinegar?!

On my way back from Manteo I called Pam and asked if she wanted to meet up for dinner. We decided on Millers Ocean front Restaurant. Again, great food and so relaxing because we ate outdoors over looking the ocean. Here is a view from the end of the Pier which was a step down from the out door patio we were sitting on.

I've only been to the Outer Banks in NC one time before this trip. We stayed with my brother and his wife in the 4x4 section which was a trip, literally. We had to rent a 4x4 vehicle and drive 3.5 miles down the beach and over dunes to get to our rental. Needless to say, we didn't have a lot of time to spend away from the home because you really wouldn't want to drive the beach at night. So, I decided if I ever go back I wanted to check out the town of Duck, NC and I did! Duck has a lot of shops with a very long boardwalk which extends far beyond the shops and they are all Oceanfront. It was all about the ambiance for me, not shopping. I will admit, I bought a pair of earrings while I was there but out of guilt because I had to use the restroom and went inside a Jewelry store- it cost me 21.00 to use it. Ok, 21.00 after I bought the earrings out of guilt. Here are my photos from Duck.

My day in Duck wasn't complete until I watched the sunset over the Ocean.

Fishing Tournament on Nags Head Beach the day before we left to travel back home.

Our last dinner out was at the Nags Head Pier (outdoors of course)

called Captain Andy's. The food was excellent, I had a Fried Oyster PoBoy.

Hated to say goodbye to the Turbulent yet, calming Ocean. It's amazing how stress can leave your body, as if the waves are taking it all away from you.

Until we meet again Nags Head! The last photo was taken as I was driving out of Manteo off the Island back to Nags Head. I know, I know- I shouldn't take photos while driving but I couldn't resist.

I had a great time. No worries, just relaxation. I hope Pam brought home some great memories too. I'd post a photo of both of us but she didn't like the photo's I took of us! I'm glad we were able to meet and thankful for our vacation which went by way too fast but then again, don't they always fly by?!! Thank you for making this trip possible Pam!

I think this may have been one of the few last blogs posts I wrote on Bebee. I was accused of not tagging the person I met up with on this trip & accused of some very mean things about myself long after we both returned home from the trip. Because of the accusations that were far from true & some of you that were very friendly to me (and her) began withdrawing. She accused me of speaking badly of her to many of you & I never did that. Honestly, I didn't even know I caused her so much grief/anger until I realized she was actually ignoring my texts, IM's & other forms of communications over a period of 6 mos or so. That was when I reached out to ask if I had done something to upset her. Her biggest gripe, wasn't tagged in this (yes, she was) but she either blocked me since I reached out or doesn't use Bebee anymore. And, I was accused of being selfish & more. Why do I share this now? Because I was hoping she would come around, even after I told her to re-read this because I did tag her in it & I honestly tried to reason with her. No reasoning with someone who detests you. Be careful who you meet up with, even if you think you know that person well. She really hurt me more than words could ever express & I want others to know, I realize I am far from perfect but I'm also not the monster she accused me of being. I won't go into things that did happen & I was literally walking on egg shells during this entire week 4 years ago. Maybe this was childish of me to update this with my thoughts but it was long over due. Hope this finds many of you well!

How exciting that you Savvy Raj are going to meet in Dubai! Dubai looks gorgeous, what a fun place to meet. Is there a link to Franci's meets and greets or is it a hive? I use so many hives I lose track of what is available. Glad you enjoyed

We took a few photos but I didn't like mine and Pam didn't like hers. Thanks , the beach gives you such renewal. I hope you can one day soon. It would be great to meet, I wish we had a big meet up for bees but it would be hard because of distance for so many. I'm sure it could be possible though!

So much fun Cyndi wilkins brought a hibachi grill and made burgers while I cooked corn on cob, baked beans and macs/cheese. No worries, my part was simple since it was from a can or a box... just had to shuck the corn LOL. I think she felt relieved to be able to work since some things came up that were not expected, still felt bad for her!! She wouldn't want me to though ;-)

It was great Ken Boddie, I'd be a happy camper if I lived Ocean Front. But, with increase in hurricanes- I think I will pass for now!

Lisa 🐝 Gallagher...Oh what a glorious time you had!!! My kinda vacation...eating...drinking and sight seeing...Sorry you had to work so much Pam...that must have been disappointing for you...But it sounds like you both just rolled with it;-) We have been so fortunate to be experiencing an extended summer...I managed to get in one last swim in the ocean a couple of weeks ago when the South was having all those hurricanes...The storm surge pushed all that warm water up the Eastern seaboard and we were gifted with a few extra weeks of summer here in New England;-) Loved the photos!!! Absolutely fabulous...I almost feel like I was there;-)

Sounds like you had a calming break, Lisa. Long strolls along the beach, with the smell of ozone and the breaking waves, plus the absence of deadlines or commitment tend to have that effect, what say you?

How much fun being there with your grand kids Harvey Lloyd, I haven't been to Rodanthe, it is right on the Ocean too? I loved Manteo!! I hope you stopped by the Lost Colony for an afternoon snack and a beer (one for me too). Can you believe I don't even drink beer? It's been years since I had one but for some reason on that day, it just sounded appealing! Enjoy yourself :)

I like the way you put it Ali 🐝 Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee. I have to say for me, there is something to be said about a true mind/body cleansing (no pun intended) when I'm near the Ocean! My husband and I plan to go back in early spring before it gets too busy and prices go way up. Ah, I miss it so much already!

grear response Lisa 🐝 Gallagher. Like a small toxin killing the assault of a bigger dose of same toxin a small turbulence might drive out a bigger turbulence inside us.

I'm glad you were able to feel not just the visual but literally smell what I felt too Ali 🐝 Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee. Good point about the turbulent Ocean. Maybe the surf made me ponder how my mind felt leading up to leaving. For once, I didn't feel turbulent on the inside and it was actually calming to see it as if it were pulling away any negative energy left inside of me. I was at peace. I also learned that I'm really at ease being on the go on my own too. I'm glad Pam and I discussed our differences before we met. I've realized I can do this again and I'd be at ease just going alone too. I really like my company LOL. No offense to Pam, enjoyed hers too!!

This is a "trip of mind" for me Lisa 🐝 Gallagher. I could smell the fragrance of your flowey descriptions. I felt a little jealous wanting to visit the places you visited. Still; you left me thinking. For example, your writing "Hated to say goodbye to the Turbulent yet, calming Ocean". I am still absorbing this paradox- turbulent yetcalming.
