Stairway to Heaven - One of the Best Songs of all Time

Stairway to Heaven - One of the Best Songs of all Timepe “n
ill p

& 9

One of the best songs of all time.

My observation is the song is about those that always get what they want and never give back.聽

Perhaps we have inner conflicts and feelings of being trapped but we must remind ourselves it is never too late to change, and we should encourage ourselves to follow the right path.

We must listen and seek the right answers even if from a higher power because in the end we are all equal.聽

The lyrics tell a story and send a message.聽

"Stairway to Heaven" is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released in late 1971. It was composed by guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant for the band's untitled fourth studio album (often called Led Zeppelin IV). It is often referred to as one of the greatest rock songs of all time聽

"Stairway To Heaven"

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.

Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who stand looking.

Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune,
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long,
And the forests will echo with laughter.

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.
And it makes me wonder.

Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know,
The piper's calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind?

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

On rare occasions, just for fun. I am no pro, that's for sure LOL!

You're a Karaoke singer! I'm impressed, Lisa 🐝 Gallagher. I am glad you enjoyed this.

Can you believe I actually sang this song in Cleveland during Karaoke ? I actually did really well. But I had to ruin it by singing a duet with some guy I pulled from the audience because he had such a good voice. We sang "Ebony and Ivory." He was excellent, I was so bad I was knee slapping in between trying to sing. Great message Franci🐝Eugenia Hoffman!

Ben Pinto, I saw this version, as well. I found it to be excellent.

That's funny Lisa Gallagher. I got a chuckle out it.

Thank you Irene Hackett

ha ha, I think Dean Owen would run and hide with his guitar if I decided to sing along!!

Thank you everyone for your comments. This idea started with Javier beBee

I'm impressed Dean Owen know about this?

I have seen the Heart version and it's fabulous!

Whoa, Lisa Gallagher. Karaoke - hidden talent maybe? You rock!

A top three pick for all time. I have a friend that says if you remember the sixties you weren't there. This song has a context that really cant be interpreted unless chemicals are involved. That era of music came from a place that is hard to contemplate unless you saw the vision of where the world was headed. I was late to the party but am so glad I got to see it in its pure form.

Indeed, and one of the first songs we learn on guitar (and perhaps one of the few songs left in my repertoire).

I doubt "Stairway" has any definitive meaning, outside of Plant feeling we live in a world of confusion. Plant wrote very quickly, often in the studio while Page, Bonham and Jones worked on the instrumental tracks. Most of Plant's lyrics tend to float, possibly he was looking for words that worked well with his voice. He didn't share the intellectual bent of, say, Lennon or Dylan.

Epic song Franci Eugenia Hoffman and what a good message you applied to it. We are all equal, I couldn't agree more. I wish there were some who understood that concept. This says it all, "There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings, Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven." PS: I sang this to Karaoke in Cleveland (yes, I had a few white russians before I sang)- drinks, that is LOL! I was with my brother and he thought I did a good job, even the DJ doing Karaoke told me I rocked that song. Well, my ego got the best of me and I went up to sing a duet with a guy, Ebony and Ivory," OMG I stunk so bad I was knee slapping, literally. Thank goodness the guy I grabbed and asked to do the duet with me had an awesome voice and a good sense of humor. My brother told me he hid under the table LOL!

OMG Franci Eugenia Hoffman! That was my choice too, but I was too lazy to the leg work tonight. Many thanks for speaking for all Led Zeppelin fans --- no "communications breakdown" here, just "a whole lot of love"!

What is your favorite song Ben Pinto?

What is your favorite song Bradley Zachary?

Thank you for sharing. 馃幐

#3 So many songs to choose from but this one of my all time favorites.
