Reasons We Love Christmas at Disney World

We Love Christmas At Disney World!

This year will make seven years straight that we have spent part of the Christmas season at Walt Disney World.  We have visited Disney World during most times of the year.  Christmas remains our favorite.  It has become a family tradition.

When I decided to write this post, I asked my son, “What makes Christmas at Disney World so special?”  His response was, “It’s Christmas, and it’s Disney!”  While this is true, it makes for a short post.  I wanted to delve a little deeper.  So, with more thought, we chose the top ten reasons we love Christmas at Disney World.

Christmas Lights

We love Christmas lights!  Disney goes all out with everything; Christmas lights included.

Poinsettias

These cheery, red flowers blanket the ground, line the streets, and even Christmas trees.

Snow!

Disney has even found a way to make this cold weather hater love snow.  Delicate flakes (soap suds) fill the sky and drift to the ground with temperatures near 70 F (20 C).  Brilliant!

Cinderella Castle

Cinderella Castle is always beautiful.  During Christmas, lights adorn the castle and illuminate the night sky.

Holidays Around the World

The Epcot World Showcase is not to be missed at Christmas.  The holiday traditions of each of the 11 World Showcase countries give even more to explore:  decorations, Santas, and storytellers fill the area.  For the countries that do not celebrate Christmas, you will find interesting exhibits on their traditions.

Christmas Merchandise

Would it really by Disney without shopping and merchandise?  At Christmastime, Walt Disney World sells a  plethora of special items.  Clothing, decorations, sweet treats, Disney World has you covered with special, seasonal products.  What better place to do Christmas shopping?

Christmas Trees

Each of Walt Disney World’s four theme parks has their own centerpiece Christmas tree.  The Disney resorts each display, festive trees, too

Ginger Bread Houses

At each Disney deluxe resort, beautiful and fragrant gingerbread creations await.  At some of the resorts, you can buy the gingerbread to enjoy.  The above photo is from the Grand Floridian Resort.  Notice the ginger bread house in the lower left.

Resort Decorations

Not only are the theme parks decked out with Christmas cheer, but the resorts go all out, too.  The Beach Club Resort has a functioning gingerbread carousel each year.

Christmas Carols

How can Christmas be complete without music?  Dickensonian Christmas Carolers show up at resorts.  A gospel choir sings at Epcot.  Christmas music plays throughout the parks.  Silent Night playing overhead while snow falls on Main Street, USA is a truly magical experience at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”

I did not mention Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or the Candlelight Procession.  These are great, also.  The extra price of the party and the long waits for the Procession keep us from enjoying them every year.  There are still plenty of reasons we love Christmas at Disney World.

If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend that visit Walt Disney World in Florida during the Christmas season.  Maybe we will see you there.

Lisa \ud83d\udc1d Gallagher, we love Disney World in all seasons, but the word "festive" is a wonderful description of the Christmas season there. It is more than that for us, though. We are Disney Vacation Club members. When we enter our resort-hotel, they always greet us with "Welcome Home!" It's corny, but after while, even this huge, commercial complex does seem to feel homey. Disney really knows customer service! I hope you get to visit WDW sometime. You know who to come to tips.

It looks beautiful Brook Massey! I would love to visit Disney World during Christmas one year. I've never been there at all. I'm sure it feels very festive.
