Putting one foot in front of the other

Putting one foot in front of the other

We are at any time capable of doing our best, we are at any time capable of acting without motivation, but we just don’t.

What motivates you to do your best and what motivates you to simply get the job done? What is that transforming difference between the two? What is the change that moves us from get the job done to taking the extra time and effort to doing our best? This something often subtle influence is the difference between greatness and simple completion.

Now I anticipate that this motivation is different from person to person but could be something as simple as opportunity or a kind smile. It’s hard to think that greatness was missed because we simply didn’t see our opportunity or missed that fleeting encouragement. But perhaps it’s true.

As you can see knowing what motivates us is far from insignificant. Understanding what encourages you to do more than just what is necessary is a powerful tool if you wish to achieve your goals. Now it is true that there are many who will advise you to find your internal motivations so you are not dependent on the external. And while this is true another consideration is what is wrong with using external motivation if it truly encourages us to do our best?

What is your goal that has stayed just out of reach? That project or painting that has simply eluded you? What will it take to make it happen? Are you willing or are you still waiting for the proper motivation? Each of has that something that moves us from I should, to I will, to I am. Find yours and reach that goal!

Blessings

Pascal while that is very true I wonder if that is always a problem. What we can as long as it doesn't drive us to mediocrity can indeed lead us to what in the end we actually wanted.

Sometimes we achieve things others have told us we can't and never will. Prove yourself wrong is great, proving others wrong is fantastic. Particularly if they in someway celebrate the achievement with you.
