Popular Veteran Groups In The United States

c8a349be.pngIf you’re looking for a good cause to donate to, helping the many veterans in need across our1 country is always a great idea. There are thousands of military and veteran nonprofits 1in the United States, so sometimes it can be hard to determine which ones are legitimate, while also being worth your time and money. If you’re looking for a good veteran group to donate to, check out a few of the ones mentioned in the list below.

Fisher House Foundation

Founded in 1990 by Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher, the Fisher House Foundation is a national non-profit organization that was established to provide support for the Fisher House program, a program that provides free housing for the families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. The non-profit has helped over 305,000 families since it was founded and has saved them more than $360 million in costs for housing and transportation, all out-of-pocket.

Tragedy Assistance Program For Survivors

Bonnie Carroll lost her husband to a training accident, and in response chose to found TAPS. TAPS offers a diverse group of programs to offer compassionate care to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one who died while serving in the Armed Forces. Since its founding in 1994, TAPS has assisted more than 70,000 surviving family members, casualty officers and caregivers.

Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA)

This non-profit was founded in 1978 and advocates for Vietnam Vets through community support, legislation and local and national events that recognize veterans from all service areas. VVA longs to achieve many goals, such as seeking full access to quality health care for veterans, creating a positive public reception of Vietnam veterans, supporting the next generation of America’s war veterans and much more. More than anything, the VVA longs for Vietnam vets to get the care and respect they’ve earned.

Semper Fi Fund

The Semper Fi Fund serves all branches of the military and provides emergency financial assistance to post 9/11 vets are critically ill, wounded, or were injured during service. The Semper Fi Fund also assists vets and their families by giving them a smooth transition back into their communities.

Bob Woodruff Family Foundation

After journalist Bob Woodruff was critically injured while reporting ABC’s “World News Tonight” in 2006, he and his wife decided they wanted to help veterans and military members struggling with similar issues and much more. Since they’re founding, the Bob Woodruff Family Foundation has assisted more than 2.5 million Veterans and Families by investing $45 million in local and national programs, as well as nonprofits. In addition to this, they’ve also awarded over 370 grants for training, research, education, and other causes.
