Pink and Green Elephant with Wings?

Pink and Green Elephant with Wings?

7e72b5fe.jpg

How do you know for a fact that what you have been taught is the right thing?

How do you know for a fact that YOU happened to be fortunate enough to be raised in the RIGHT church, with the Right values, and the RIGHT way of thinking?

How do you know that you found the RIGHT place to be, the RIGHT GOD, the RIGHT path?

Nothing makes me shake my head more than people saying:

“I know this is right, because I feel it in my GUT!” (OK, it could be a stomach ache!!!)

“I know this is right because the lord told me!” (SAY WHAT????)

Or my favorites:

“My parents believe it, therefore it must be true, because that’s all I know?” (I think you need to educate yourself here?) ( You need a little culture 101 perhaps?)

“Because I know that’s all!” ( Ok, did a little birdie tell you??)

“I did my research on Google!” ( OH? So you traveled back in time with DR. WHO!)

How can you say you did your research, when there is no possible way of traveling back in time to ask the actual person who REALLY knows what happened!

How can we believe that scientists have found real evidence supporting scriptures in the Bible when many of the evidence is buried far down below the ever evolving earths crust formation that many people are unable to survive going that deep to get back to the time that those supposed events happened. The earth has changed and continues to change, water covers more surface than it did back in the time of B.C. Divers are unable to dive to deepest parts of the ocean in fear of being crushed by the weight of the water and there are so many undiscovered parts of the earth's core that we could be making the wrong predictions. Now I am not knocking scientists, because I know they are more reliable at giving actual information than most! But they do not know everything and are still trying to find a lot more answers, which they may never find!

How many times have people predicted the “end days” for decades the same thing; "God is coming, are you ready to receive him?" I grew up with ministers saying the same thing, and where is GOD? They tell us in about four thousand years, but that no man will know the hour or day. First there will be a man claiming to be GOD then a tribulation and those who believe in him shall not perish, but have eternal life and those who do not will burn in the lake of fire!

Ok, that means our flesh will be gone, in another words we “WILL PERISH”! We will become spirit beings with GOD, right? How can you believe that when the 4000 years have past and there is no evidence what so ever that anyone has died and become a sprit being without flesh!

Why? Because you cannot prove something you have never seen and are only speculating based on information written in a BIBLE, by Man, from a GOD that we have to have "faith" to believe, really exists!

Then you have those people who say I just believe it! (Believe WHAT?)

You can’t believe in a ghost if you never saw one, you can only give the benefit of the doubt or believe that the person who saw one needs a major psychiatric evaluation.

You can’t believe in ZOMBIES, until you hear a news story of a naked man eating another man’s face off in Florida, THEN YOU BECOME A BELIEVER!

How can you believe a bunch of information that has been, altered through time, manipulated, full of missing parts, with many he said she said stories of belief?

If someone said to you: “I saw a pink and green elephant with wings!” Would you believe it? When never in your entire life have you ever seen such a thing!

Then you get people saying well maybe there was one and it fell into pink and green paint and someone put fake wings on it! (Now these people remind me of those salesmen that sell you products and can convince you into believing anything.) These types of people are so desperate to believe in something that they will find a way for it to be believable! (Talk about being manipulated!)

AND THEY CALL IT FAITH!

I’m not saying FAITH is bad, but it doesn’t always apply!

Having faith does not mean that you can move mountains, or millions of dollars will fall from the sky, that a person with cancer will live, or that 1000’s more children will not die in Iraq!

Faith is nice for some, because it helps them move forward in a world that they would rather be dead in, giving them some sort of inner peace keeping them holding onto hope and never ending dreams of a world that many generations to come will never see!

Faith works for those who believe they can lose those extra 50 pounds by summer, or those who believe they will graduate from college with a masters degree in less than four years, or those who believe they will go to Dubai when they retire, or those who believe in being able to buy there first home in 5 years…..this is having faith in yourself and in this case it definitely applies!

I am all for people believing in something that they can truly obtain with hard work and dedication, but believing in something that cannot ensure a great outcome just sounds risky to me!

Great buzz bee. Give to talk a lot, I agree with your opinion. But for being a mischievous little bee ... When Heinrich Schliemann (son of a German religious) sought Troy, he had the faith to find it and his god rewarded him with 10 cities on the plateau of Hisarlik-Bunarbaschi. If you have Faith you have to be careful of what you are looking for. Can the Faith be necessary because of the ignorance and selfishness of the human being? (My opinion)

I saw a post on Facebook the other day that showed a Bible being advertised as an "autographed copy." It was reasonably priced, too.

I understand we all have our opinions in this diverse very complex multi-cultural world. I consider myself a person who prefers proof rather than 'belief'. I appreciate that you took the time to read my post and respect your opinion without judgement. Cheers :)' #4

@FancyJ London this argument along with the opposing side are both old and tired. The singularity you present against God is one of, if i can't touch, it can't be real. Yet every day we expect others to act according to some ideological expectations. From this we take risks. When the risks work to our favor we call it skill or leadership. When it doesn't work out then someone/something broke expectation. What expectation? I can't touch the expectations, nor can i understand why another individual didn't share my expectations. We know these expectations exist because people become angry, happy or sad based on these expectations. Posts here discuss toxic work environments, micro-managing bosses, silly corporate rules to name a few. How can we use the adjectives to describe an environment without a rooted understanding of comparison? What would this comparison look like? Would i get this comparison from Social Media or maybe from Donald Trump? In our interconnected world success requires a set of core values, regardless of where they come from. We all have the free will to choose our own value sets and you have expressed that someone else's are less than perfect. I would be interested in hearing your core values and where they came from and how i might build expectation around them. I know those of all faith have members that seem to wield a heavy sword of condemnation and action. Is your sword any less sharp?
