I was having a conversation the other day with my brother who told me an interesting factoid that I never really considered before. I had just made a comment about a line from Stevie Ray Vaughan's Tightrope that I like to use a lot: "Lookin' back in front of me, in the mirror's grin Through eyes of love I see, I'm really lookin at a friend" He said: "You know, you never really ever see your face. It is always a reflection." And now your comments on perception, angles and appreciation have reinforced my journey to not just look at things, but to try and open my eyes and appreciate what unfolds before me and embrace the good, the bad and the ugly that has gotten me to this moment in time. Despite the flaws in life I will leave you with one potential thought to ponder: "It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see." Henry David Thoreau Thanks again. Joel

CityVP \ud83d\udc1d Manjit On the critical thinking front, despite the investment and creative ways education has approached this particular topic, I wonder if we have allowed ourselves to be bedeviled by words. Bedeviled to a point where in some circles we might have misplaced the ultimate understanding of what is crucial in our ability to objectively analyze what is important to form rationale judgement and outcomes. In some ways critical thinking is like listening to hear and understand or listening for an opportunity to respond. You and the others have perfected the art of taking the necessary time to see, read, assess, analyze, understand and consider the different sides to an issue and words. I may be off base on the crucial piece, but....just conveying a thought as it seems far too often, the deeper considerations and reflections in our use of words just seems to be far too superficial. This thread is refreshing to observe the deep richness that has unfolded through the conversations. I am coming out of this discussion personally, a much more informed person. And for that I am truly grateful.

I think what we are perfecting here is the art of creative thinking, while not superceding the need to maintain healthy standards of critical thinking. For sure we live in a social bubble that washes critical thinking with acid rather than soap, corroding thinking rather than cleaning it so it shines with greater insight. Creative thinking is its own challenge and a road far less explored - especially when we consider that our educational system is actually invested far more in the delivery of critical thinking. May be the failure of the education system to deliver that critical thinking is actually a creative problem.

CityVP \ud83d\udc1d Manjit Thank you. Now you have taken this to an unanticipated level in reading it and I truly appreciate your time in doing so and your kind words and insights. In a world where we live in polarized extremes and sensationalism in the use of words, I truly am humbled that you took the time to read it the way you have and responding with your thoughts. I too have been looking at this in different ways and in the short time since I posted this have continued to think about the residual benefit of learning from the wisdom of you and the others. To somehow crack the nut of finding the agreeable in the disagreeable. Through the Yin and Yang's of our lives, aid us in a quest of finding a true and core essence of "Oneness" despite our differences.. Your comment and that of the others have really made me think about the what ifs associated with this and other topics. What if we could just perfect the art of critical thinking and dialogue. And in taking the time within any process aiding in our singular and collective journey towards unattainable true perfection, well maybe just maybe--might we be on to something interesting? Thank you so much.,

Similar to Praveen, we can choose to read this in different ways. For instance I read all the first lines first, and then all the second lines and then all the third, fourth and fifth lines. Five lines is an interesting form of expression - and so interesting way you have put this together.

Praveen Raj Gullepalli Thank you so much for a great comment. It was interesting indeed to read it from the bottom upwards and your comment and approach has helped me in my contemplation of it all. As I thought about your comment, it reminded me of a quote attributed to Emily Dickinson: "I dwell in possibility." The co-existance of the Ying and Yang--of cause and effect--input and output--good and bad. The quest for enlightenment and a journey to someday and somehow find the core essence of "Oneness" at its very being. Thank you again.

Did we inherit the paradoxes of our lives from the paradoxes of earth? Joel Anderson writes eloquently: "There is something I can do Nothing I do will change its course I can make a difference I can watch it unfold It is someone else’s problem; It is mine to own" May be the paradox of the earth propmpts us to explore it with curiosity!

There is a natural beauty when we see nature and its performance. The seemingly unrelated becomes related as we watch the various elements come together in harmonic balance. Humanity is blessed/cursed with consciousness. The ability to be self aware can create equally harmonic opportunities. But enter hierarchy competitiveness and the game is now a grab bag of self indulgence. Does the elephant think it's better than the giraffe? Your words open up this discussion from all foreseeable sides and is a great place to start the process of unwinding competition and start living.
