My First Mission I Walked with Heroes

In the book I Walked with Heroes, the author Jerry Guzzetta recounts about his experiences and witnessing a conflict unfold in front of him during the Vietnam War. The segment then moves towards the encounter where the U.S military soldiers had an encounter with the NVA forces. This particular moment is described perfectly by the writer in the book, as it was the first instance in his military career where he was encountering, or seeing an enemy in front of him. The author describes his fear, and committing a blunder in the midst of these tensions where he was standing up to signal a spotter, which depicts the amount of pressure he had on his mind. This segment also recounts the mistake the squad made in general, where they heavily underestimated the enemy’s skill, and made a few mistakes while being on the ground.
