Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

Now if that phrase offends you, please feel free not to continue reading.  I use Merry Christmas simply because I believe that this is a great time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.  Now for the many who recognize that the probability that Jesus was not born anywhere near December I believe you are accurate.  But since I do not know the date when He was born, I choose to celebrate it at what has become the traditional time.

Now you might ask why I celebrate the birth of Jesus since he was born 2000 plus years ago?  As I generally do not celebrate anyone else’s birth from that era.  The answer as you probably have guessed is that I honestly believe that He was and is the son of God sent to bring salvation to any who choose to accept said salvation. Many others celebrate Christmas simply because it is a great season to celebrate.

Now to the many who find this season hard, or difficult due to vast many reasons It is never my intention to add salt to your wounds when I say merry Christmas.  I recognize that this season can be very difficult and open many memories that have failed to heal or have not healed well.  To you, I would offer solace and hope.  This season is actually about hope, the hope of healing and forgiveness.  The hope of a future.  This hope is found in the actual person of Jesus not the fictional character of Santa or the many variations.  But the person of Jesus who was born so long ago.

I recognize the very real need for faith to accept that a person could be born both a god and a man. And not just a god but the God of creation.  The God who established all things and as such actually understands the reality of the lives we live.  I know that this can be very difficult and practically impossible to believe.  But there is a very real reason that the Christmas season exists.

To those who would now bring up the various reasons this season exists, ask yourselves at what date these reasons were established.  Why celebrate something that is over 300 years dead?  Some would even bring up that Jesus' birth was not celebrated at all by the early church.  I believe you are accurate.  But this does not detract from the reality that something vast happened.  Which returns us to faith.

But returning to my point, Merry Christmas, and may you feel the love and joy of my Lord Jesus this season.

Blessings

From one who has absolutely no belief in formal religion, Greg, I wish you a Merry Christmas. Can't see why this salutation can possibly be offensive when it heralds a time to relax, think of others, and give of our time and experience (not to mention the swapping of presents).  For me, it's a time to recharge the batteries and to remember the less fortunate.  I'll enjoy the Santa movies and the openly accepted tall tales and myths associated with them, but forego the religious ceremony.  Here's hoping the seasonal break will also refuel your grey matter and encourage you to continue blogging on this platform.

Merry Christmas !!!🎁🎄😍
