Looking for the truth instead of an excuse

Looking for the truth instead of an excuse

3e3e6f02.jpgThe reality is things go wrong. Children miss the bus and people make mistakes. That is reality. But instead of looking for or accepting excuses even from our selves, doesn’t it make more sense to look for the truth?

The truth will set you free, is not only a well known quote but is also quite true. Excuses are an attempt to blame shift or an attempt not to make someone feel bad. And while yes, we don’t always desire to through someone under the bus, knowing what went wrong is essential to fixing the problem.

Unfortunately we all make mistakes, some large some not so large but it is easier to repair the problem with the support of those around us than alone. Excuses do not help us find the truth and the truth is needed to determine an accurate solution.

From my experience we usually offer and accept excuses to avoid responsibility, I expect you have found similar motives in your own situations. Being responsible is not in and of itself a bad thing if we also have an answer or at least desire for an answer to the problem. Permitting others and even ourselves to take the blame without condemnation can result in a greater desire to find a solution, since we are free to evaluate the situation without fear.

If it is our desire to blame someone then excuses will not only exist but become more and more common. But if our desire is to find solutions to the issues that surround us, then the truth with compassion is needed.

Giving ourselves and others a break when issues exist can be the best road to the truth and an accurate solution.

Give it a try.

Blessings
