Lines in the Sand: Part III

There are lines all around us

Of various shape and size

They come in different colors

Depending on your eyes

I see them everywhere I go

They ebb and then they flow

They help me see life’s beauty

Despite the challenges, don’t you know

They come in different shades

Depending on your view

Sometimes black or white, depending on their grades

And at times can surface as red as green or blue, in their own magical kind of ways

They may be thick and steady

Or they may be thin and fine

They can often be quite heady

As Kippling’s Tommy once opined

There are lines all around us

Of various shape and size

They come in different colors

Depending on your eyes

In a world of 1’s and 0’s

They can modify, depending on how they show

Wouldn’t it be nice to simply see

That we could use them here and now; just to flourish and to grow

And in the human psyhce

In a surreal kind of flow

Their zone can illuminate, and shine so brightly

And help us come together, just to say a Satchmo Wonderful World hello

I see them everywhere I go

They ebb and then they flow

They help me see life’s beauty

Despite the challenges, don’t you know

They serve to give us reference

To a point or place in time

They also serve to divide us

Depending on the climb

They are often found in nature

And in politics I fear.

They represent a position from where we might nurture

And sometimes to a fault, a place or point we often hold so dear

There are lines all around us

Of various shape and size

They come in different colors

Depending on your eyes

We use them to position

On one side or another

And in the realm of the human condition

Simple and complex when viewed against the other

Heraclitus spoke of a river

A natural kind of line

And so too did Lao Tzu

About taking steps in time

I see them everywhere I go

They ebb and then they flow

They help me see life’s beauty

Despite the challenges, don’t you know

So here’s to you my human friends

A wish within a line

Whether your lines take you here or there

May they reflect what's positive, in your moments and snap shots in time

May the lines that led you here

Propel you down your path

To revel in them with no fear

And use them with no wrath

There are lines all around us

Of various shape and size

They come in different colors

Depending on your eyes

I see them everywhere I go

They ebb and then they flow

They help me see life’s beauty

Despite the challenges, don’t you know

To know everything we need to know very little. But to know that little you need to know a damn lot! - Gourdjieff. Thanks Joel Anderson for the inspiring linearity, pregnant with much!

Joel Anderson I would never have thought linear poetry is possible until I read this. A linear mind such as mine enjoyed it very much - thanks Joel.

It is all fun and games until someone gets an eye poked. Speaking of the wilderness, kind of like Henry David Thoreua's Walden/Life in the woods..."It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."
