It is your life to live

It is your life to live

It is Your life to live

Some of you might remember from quite a while ago that my hobby is bladesmithing. I have had the privilege of designing and building blades from a two-handed greatsword down to a one-inch specialty tool. The variety of blades that I have crafted has been only limited by my imagination and skill, mainly skill. Some of my blades reside in offices while others are at the bottom of toolboxes. Each hopefully accomplishing the goal of the design.

Just as each blade is unique even when created for a very similar purpose as another so are we. Each of us is amazingly unique and special. Uniquely crafted and designed for life. Yes, each life will look similar to many others but that does not take away from ours. It is some easy to get caught up in the drama of life that we miss the uniqueness of our lives as we live them out.

It is very true that kitchen knives are designed to cut specific foods, with each style crafted toward a certain aspect of or type of food. And it is also true that each secretary is asked to perform similar tasks, but again each will have some very specific differences to others. But unlike a knife, we are not what we do. We are who we choose to be and permit ourselves to reach for.

Yes, again I know that we do not always obtain what we reach for, but that should not prevent us from reaching or even hinder our encouraging others to reach. I will never be the best bladesmith; it is not my goal. I smith for the fun of moving the steel to the form I have chosen and fitting a handle that permits it to be used or wielded in a manner that is consistent with its purpose. As individuals should we not have at least that much drive? To stretch to find and seek to fulfill that purpose?

There are many who find fault with my understanding of people. There are many who fail to believe that people, individuals, have a purpose. That is their privilege. But wow, what a sad existence. I very honestly believe that each of us was born on purpose with a unique life to live. What you do with that information is up to you. I would recommend you live it to the fullest. But that is just me.

Blessings!

Interesting hobby, Greg. Begs the question, how did you end up bladesmithing?  Presumably this is a specialty form of blacksmithing? Hammering on an anvil must provide a great form of stress relief. ⚒️
