Insanity: What can we do differently?
Quoting Albert Einstein: âInsanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different resultsâ.
My question is, what can we do differently? Letâs focus on Time Management. I have wrote on it a few times before.
Effective time management not only helps you to achieve your goals, but it also provides less stress in everyday life. I put a few ways to help achieve balance between work and private life. If you have a big problem to solve, it is always better to ask someone who it smarter than you. So why donât we ask the greatest mind of the 20th century Albert Einstein?
Are you overwhelmed with the amount and the degree of complex tasks to do? Do you have an impression that time flows too fast sometimes? Or maybe you have too many new tasks that come and disturb more important work? The answer is there and it is named: managing time.
First: start with a good plan
Planning each day you can not only achieve your goals, but also you gain control of your life. You can arrange your tasks on âto doâ listâ this is the simplest idea to start. Einstein said: âGod doesnât play diceâ â so he has a plan
Second: determine priorities
When you establish your priorities you can be sure that you your time will be allocated properly. When a student asked Nobel Prize winner: âDr. Einstein, how many feet are there in a mile?â, Einstein replied âI donât know⊠I make it a rule not to clutter my mind with simple information that I can find in a book in five minutes.â I think almost everyone knows a Vilfred Pareto principle which describes that 20% of efforts generates 80% of the effects.
The main priorities of knowledge is not learning facts yet Positive Thinking. I, myself, like to break my priorities into quadrants of Important and Urgent. I will talk about this later.
Third: manage time because time is priceless
Time unlike other things canât be regained, so donât waste your time on unnecessary tasks. It appears that a person doesnât have to work longer hours, he or she only needs to manage time better. Everybody has the same 24 hours in a day. Einstein said: âI do not play gamesâŠ. There is not time for it. When I get through with work, I donât want anything that requires the working of the mind.â
Fourth: trust is everything
Even the best methods for time management canât help if all tasks will be done by one person. Now there are many opportunities to delegate work and there are people who can help. Better to trust someone and just delegate work. But you have to remember that: âAnyone who doesnât take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either.â
This is why true Teamwork is so important when building your business. It gains back your most important factor of time for both you and your teammate.
Fifth: just do it
Albert Einstein: âWork is the only thing that gives substance to life.â
Donât worry about work to do. Remember that tasks always look difficult than they are. The hardest part is usually just getting started. My first blog I wrote was the hardest I ever wrote, just because of the decision of doing it. You can always divide a big task into smaller ones.
Like the motto of Nike, "Just do it"
This reminds me of the joke, âHow do you eat an elephant? One piece at a timeâ
