Here is the Secret to a Successful Business

In an article that I wrote before I told you the importance of two factors: 1) Your Dream, and 2) Believing in your-self.   These two factors are so important in building any business, yet unless you master a third, these two will not matter because at some point your business will come falling down. I believe that the Secret to a Successful Business is Humility.

Humility is defined as “a modest or low view of one’s own importance” or “A quality by which a person considering his own defects has a humble opinion of himself and willingly submits himself to God and to others for God’s sake.” St. Bernard defines it as, “A virtue by which a man knowing himself as he truly is, abases himself.”

When you humble yourself and realize that you don’t know everything and are not the most important factor, you are now willing to grow.  This is the turning point in your business.  “I don’t know everything.”

Humbleness keeps you learning, it keeps you physically healthy, and spiritually filled.  You now have an urge to learning from others by reading and listening to their teachings.  Their teachings engage your mind, body, and soul.  This in turns grows your business.  Others see you and will trust you and you’ll in turn trust them. LEARN, DO, TEACH. 

You are willing to give part of your work in your business to someone else because you trust their abilities and you now have humble yourself.  This is how you truly build a strong growing team.

Now, business owners who are 100% “Gurus” may be successful.  Yet, many of them fail long-term. This is because they are either don’t trust others or they think they are better then others (pride).  This means that this person will never entrust any work in their business onto someone else.  So how can they expand or be free if they will never trust some else’s abilities? They never will.  They will be trapped to their own work forever.

This also applies to Network Marketing. If you have a someone in your down-line, who you are always doing the work for, you either don’t believe in yourself or that person.  They will never grow, and they are being taught to do the same thing.  This process is also killing your business.

If you do everything for anyone, it hurts them.  I am having this problem with my 3 children. I still want to do everything for them like they are infants. Yet, they are growing children now.  A great example is that of a butterfly in cocoon. If you find a butterfly at the end of metamorphosis, it is now fully formed into a butterfly, yet still in the cocoon.  What it is doing is flapping it’s wings to try to get out. In this process, the wings on the insect are gaining strength, and when it finally breaks free, the butterfly can fly.

Now, imaging you came along and felt it needed help.  For some reason you felt sorry for the butterfly and you felt were superior because of how tall you were. So you walk over and opened the cocoon yourself for the insect and kept walking.  In your mind, you might feel good, but now the butterfly never gained the strength to fly.  So, it fell out and died on the ground.

It sad, but true in life. We never give the opportunity for others to grow.  Part of Life if to go through the struggle waiting for us.  These experiences make us who we are. So we should never prevent others from growing, yet that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be there when they need a hand.
