Have you packed your parachute?

Have you packed your parachute?

Each of us have our own areas that cause us to stop, we most often call them fears. Fear of falling, fear of confined spaces, fear of failure, and fear of stepping to far past our safe zone to name but a glimpse. And while I agree the concept fear is very beneficial to survival it can also be a hindrance to personal growth.

Now just because something causes you to stop doesn’t mean you should always strive against that fear. Fear of falling is a good thing, just not too much of it. Fear of failing if a good emotion but again, not too much of it. Fear makes us stop and think. Fear opens our eyes to an area of danger or risk of danger. What we do with that information is what matters.

Fear of falling does not mean never jump, it simply means that we have to ask are we prepared for the fall? It is like asking is our parachute pack and do we have it on. If our answers are yes then why not jump? Life is about how we handle the information we receive. Life is about using fear and other emotions to guide us not control us.

The future is full of opportunities for us to fail and succeed. Our future is full of chances we need to take and risk, but again, are we prepared? Yes, it is true that we can hesitate to long while waiting until we are “fully” prepared, if we become over cautious, but many failures are simply great learning opportunities hidden in a unique package.

Pack your parachute, check what needs revisited then jump. When we let our emotions be our guides instead of our jailers’ life becomes much more real and truly the adventure it is intended to be.

Blessings
