Contamination control efforts in cleanrooms and controlled environments tends to address eye-level or hand-operation levels. There is concentration on what is in front of personnel and what is seen at that eye or hand-level and environmental monitoring efforts reflect such. The range of the filling or packaging lines, and what is more easily cleaned, is given frequent consideration.

A major misunderstanding lies in believing that a routinely cleaned and maintained floor harbors no microbiological or particulate contaminants, or that contaminants at floor-level do not pose a risk to the product. Floor-level contaminations and its causes cannot be neglected; it cannot be the forgotten or least considered area of concern.
