Did you communicate what you intended to this time?

Did you communicate what you intended to this time?

ibid

As we all know the vast majority of communication is nonverbal. Regardless of whether you hold to the 93% or the 55% with the 38% vocal tone position the fact is written communication does not contain those points of communication. So we must ask the question, does this matter?

Does it matter that any written communication; text, messenger, or even this post does not contain a vast percentage of personal interactive communication? I expect that depends on what you are trying to communicate. Is it your intent to let people know you true position or opinion? Are you just relying facts and figures?

How we choose to communicate, vastly influences what we are actually saying. Written communication is by its nature more sterile than a face to face meeting. Any and all emotional response to a letter or text is derived from the reader. While it is true that a carefully crafted script will guide the reader to an emotional position, but any resultant emotion is from the reader there is no nonverbal addition.

Next time you decide to address messages to another person decide just what you desire to communicate. What level of transfer is needed in order to most accurately help them understand your position? The burden of communication is laid at the feet of the one initiating it, so choose well.

If it is worth saying it is worth saying well.

Blessings
