Conscious incompetence or Unconscious incompetence? Is thoughtlessness a weapon of control?

“There are two ways to be fooled. One is to
believe what is not true; the other is to

refuse to believe what is true.” -Soren

“I have found that, to make a contented slave, it is necessary to make a THOUGHTLESS  one. It is necessary to darken his moral and mental vision, and, as far as possible, to annihilate the power of reason. He must be able to detect no inconsistencies in slavery; he must be made to feel that slavery is right; and he can be brought to that only when he ceased to be a man.” –Frederick Douglass, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass

Do NOT read this if you think our “Leaders” are being truthful and are leading with INTEGRITY

Do NOT read this if you are unable to recognize misuse of language for ideological reasons

Do NOT read this if you suffer from STUPIDITY IDIOCY – FOOLISNESS or DELUSION

Do NOT read this if you are blind to the “ethical crisis” presently confronting science

Do NOT read this if you think everything unfolding around you is on the “up & up”

Do NOT read this if you have no desire for or regard for .. Ultimate TRUTH

Do NOT read this if you think everything is “OK” .. running smoothly

Do NOT read this if you believe there is “NO FRAUD” in elections

Do NOT read this if you are sensitive or a thin-skinned person

Do NOT read this if you believe there is no “Fake News”

Do NOT read this if you are “OK” not knowing Truth

Do NOT read this if you think you’re a “victim”

Do NOT read this is you are a fearful person

Do NOT read this if you hate white people

Do NOT read this if you hate black people

Do NOT read this if “you want it darker”

Do NOT read this if you HATE people

If you are the dealer, I'm out of the game
If you are the healer, it means I’m broken and lame
If thine is the glory, then mine must be the shame
You want it darker
We kill the flame – Leonard Cohen

I spent 10 years in the “wilderness” .. this is part of my unique spiritual journey. Powerful. Priceless. Prescient.

I’ll share with you one of the things I learned during that time-of-captivity which was filled with meditation .. deep THOUGHT .. and prayer.

Right-thinking produces right actions & good outcomes

Wrong-thinking produces wrong actions & bad outcomes

This is as sure as gravity

To the question: Conscious incompetence or Unconscious incompetence?

Conscious incompetence .. you know you don’t know

Unconscious incompetence .. you DO NOT KNOW .. that you do not know

BEWARE & Be aware: No one can think or act beyond their level of consciousness.

Based on outcomes .. based on present reality .. Based on what your eyes tell you & not the NOISE filling your ears

To the degree possible .. be HONEST .. Be THOUGHTFUL

Evaluate .. assess .. THINK about the state of the world

THINK about the level of unconscious thought & incompetence

I’m going to call both conditions: THOUGHT-LESS-NESS

Thoughtlessness .. meaning:
.. lacking in thought-ability

.. no presence of mind

.. insufficiently alert

.. devoid of reason

Thoughtlessness keeps company with STUPIDITY – IDIOCY – FOOLISNESS – DELUSION

Truth: A FOOL will always be revealed by his actions

Just as there are degrees of Intelligence (IQ) .. there are degrees of thoughtlessness & stupidity (SQ)

We have a tendency to think that a high IQ reflects THOUGHT-ability .. but that is absolutely NOT true

IQ is no indication or assurance of wisdom, morality or common sense as @Farooq Omar points out in his thought post  “A lesser IDIOT” .. he quotes Robert Sternberg or Cornell University

"You see individuals who get excellent grades, and afterward they suck at initiative. They are acceptable professionals with NO presence of mind and no morals.”

Here’s a word to tuck away for the right moment: “snollygoster .. a person who possesses intellectual prowess but no sound moral principles” – shared by Andre Van Heerden

NO presence of mind and no morals .. leads to FRAUD .. which is wrongful or criminal deception

F - fear “wizardry” is management & manipulation by FEAR

R – redefining of truth .. results management

A – attack – create an alternate reality

U – undermine Truth

D – disrupt – divide – deceive- distract – destroy -delude

Deluded: believing something that is not true. NOT believing truth.

DELUSION * .. “one discovers, has everything to do with the acceptance of ‘not knowing’. Of course, not knowing hardly prevents the approaching chaos.” - Mark Z. Danielewski

“Only deluded people think that moving the hands on the face of a clock changes the time.” - fem -v

It’s easier to FOOL people .. than to convince them they HAVE been fooled.” – Mark Twain

We live in a time when many are confused about “right” & “wrong” & “Truth”

There is a Source & Standard to Guide us in these matters but many people seem to “want it darker”

.. thus have turned their back on God.  It appears that human-opinion & feelings are governing the world.

What is Truth & What is right
The Source of both is found in Light

The sun comes up every day .. but how many people see the Light?

Jesus said: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8

Know this:

BIAS ever binds & BLINDS .. keeping people UNKNOWINGLY in the dark ..

Why are people suffering from varying degrees of: Conscious incompetence & Unconscious incompetence?

There are clear reasons .. but the dark side of human nature proves itself unable to receive .. all are spiritual in nature

.. hard-hearts (willful ignorance)

.. closed-eyes (chosen blindness)

.. dull spirits (sleeping – unaware)

Another thing I learned in my “time-of-captivity”

Physical problems require physical cure

Spiritual problems require spiritual cures

It matters not how many degrees .. even PhD’s .. one might possess .. NO amount of formal education will correct or advise a person who is spiritually bankrupt .. spiritually dead.

This condition has ever plagued mankind: hard-hearts & closed-eyes.

Jesus spells it out in Matthew 13 .. ever wonder why He spoke in parables?

“The heart of the matter IS the matter of the heart”

“Closed-eyes & Hard-hearts” – why its easy to be fooled – not aware – not conscious .. not thoughtful

Important to know:

“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth” – Plato

Who experienced this more than Jesus Christ?

He declared Himself “Truth” & the "Light of men"

.. there are many truths

.. there is only One Truth

Magnified, sanctified
Be the holy name
Vilified, crucified
In the human frame
A million candles burning
For the help that never came
You want it darker

Hineni, hineni
I'm ready, my Lord

There's a lover in the story
But the story's still the same
There's a lullaby for suffering
And a paradox to blame
But it's written in the scriptures
And it's not some idol claim
You want it darker
We kill the flame ..

– Leonard Cohen

The abolishment of Western Man: So, the final conclusion would surely be that whereas other civilizations have been brought down by attacks of barbarians from without, ours had the unique distinction of training its own destroyers at its own educational institutions, and then providing them with facilities for propagating their destructive ideology far and wide, all at the public expense

Thus, did Western Man decide to abolish himself, creating his own boredom out of his own affluence, his own vulnerability out of his own strength, his own impotence out of his own erotomania, himself blowing the trumpet that brought the walls of his own city tumbling down, and having convinced himself that he was too numerous, labored with pill and scalpel and syringe to make himself fewer. Until at last, having educated himself into imbecility, and polluted and drugged himself into stupefaction, he keeled over--a weary, battered old brontosaurus--and became extinct.” – Malcolm Muggeridge wrote this more than 50 years ago

On science

Andre Van Heerden writes (from 2018 essay)

"The benefits of science are staggering; but there is a downside. Science faces a serious ethical crisis. Malign and deceptive research, dishonest claims, inhumane medical experiments, the development of dangerous drugs, collusion with questionable corporate, political, and military schemes, ideological contamination, the erosion of professional collegiality, and many other reprehensible practices, undermine the image of science...
Science is not the issue here; scientists and their sponsors are. Science doesn’t promote self-serving personal agendas, because science is not a person. Science is a method of inquiry, invented by humans to find the truth about material reality. When it departs from that ideal it inevitably becomes corrupted.
The moral collapse of the West is a devastating threat to both science and leadership, but the truth on which they both stand will ultimately prevail. What is often forgotten is that most of the ethical failures within the scientific community are exposed by scientists who have kept their moral compass, and who understand that science will only flourish when it is practiced with the virtues essential to it."

Authors note:

I spent 10 years in the “wilderness” as part of my unique spiritual journey. My “time-of-captivity” with the Lord .. a “set apart” time filled with meditation .. deep THOUGHT .. and prayer. Would I have volunteered knowing how long it would last? Probably not. Looking back .. a PRICELESS experience.

Whether it is conscious or non-conscious incompetence is as Orrin Woodward says. The problem with incompetence is its inability to recognise itself.

blind spots, self centred, denial and the plague of self appointed experts offer a very grim prospect of people who want to hold on to their beliefs and refuse progress or cancel people who want to progress however it is just because the latter are magnified by the prism of visibility, true innovators are rarely popular hen ce the desperate attempts are control

The words gyrate in my mind searching for a place to latch on and grapple. Somehow Cohen's scary lyrics are comforting. And so it goes.
