Competing As A Freelancer
At the beginning of Summer I had finished the Spring semester of college and was looking for something to do. I got several emails about a guest blogging course thought it would be more interesting than watching TV. It took me two months to complete the course at guestblogging.com using the computers at the school library four days a week. It was good to get out of the house and do something. I'm disabled because of an injury I got on a fishing boat in Alaska and have the time to do whatever I want. It turns out I like staying busy. I'm working on a computer tech certificate at a local community college and took an online course in the summer.
When I go online and read articles posted I see people writing them have years of experience running a business and are writers who have published their own books. A lot of them have Masters degrees and some have PhD's. These people are pro's. How can I compete with them? I wanted to stay busy over the summer and now published writers, and people who run businesses are reading what I write, and most of them have a lot more education than me. Can I really compete with them? If I stick with a subject I'm know about or is interesting to me, maybe. Then I realize I’m over thinking. I can write as a hobby in my spare time and not worry about competing with anyone. People will like what I post or they won’t.
There was a section in the course on pitching an article to an established blog to get them to an established blog to get them to post it with your label. I figured I could start up my own blog and post on a social media platform. If people think I’m competing with them or that I don’t belong on sites like Linkedin or Bebee, Who Cares? I’ll just keep writing anyways . I guess that’s what freelancers do..Written By Mark Blevins
