Business As Usual - Or Not

Business As Usual - Or Not

c7356863.jpg

I went to a big Native gathering in Seattle last weekend. I lived in Seattle for 16 years because that’s where my kids grew up. The Native community there helped me when I lost everything in the recession and I was adopted by the Lakota. I still try to visit the friends I made. I also wanted to see one of my sons who still lives there.

I usually do volunteer work while I’m at the Powwow. This year they asked me if I wanted to work security and get paid so I ended up making some extra cash. That was a bonus.

Something happened while I was there I don’t want to write about and I couldn’t act like things were business as usual, so I had a short trip. While I was there I saw my son’s mom and she didn’t go ballistic, so maybe I’ll see him next time.

You never know what will happen when you travel. On my way back home the train hit a car that was on the tracks early in the morning. Someone said it happens every now and then. Nobody could guess why it happened. Maybe it was a drunk driver.

There was beautiful scenery of rolling hills and farmland but what happened was still in the back of my mind a couple days after I got home. A lot of us missed our connection and had to take a different route.

Some relatives came to visit the house over the weekend. One of my cousins had a black eye. She got in a fight earlier that day. My seven-year-old cousin, Sierra, called her Cousin Gangbang.

That was too much! She made everyone laugh. It started to feel like things were back to normal.

When I went to check my email this morning my stalker ex-wife had sent a request asking me to ad her to my Linkedin page. I don’t think she knows what a divorce is.

Maybe they don’t have them in her country.

I guess things are back to business as usual.
