Blank Verse Poem for the Bee
Hello there, little bee, so kind and sweet.
The world is in our hands! Oh, can't you see?
The meager taste of Prussian candy cane
Around thy little nose would be distilled,
Within the premises of Otto and his gale, destroyed,
And lighting over sea, a brave new world,
For reaching high above, incipient leaves
Become the random forest that you need.
And farther than your wings, your love of spring,
True freedom, with no strings, returns our cheer.

Please, do not mention what is so often misunderstood. As medical scientist, you may have heard about the recent hypothesis that there is no left/right side of the brain! There is a corpus callosum, connecting both hemispheres of the cerebral cortex, but there may just be one cortex! I once applied to a job as data scientist, trying to help understand the cortical functions of the brain, looking for canonical microcircuits and what that has to say to the PI and students working at the lab. I only turned down the offer because I was unable to be both at Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience and IBM Poughkeepsie. I'm sort of an overachiever. I wish to be in two places at once, maybe three, but cannot do it! I want to be the artist, the mathematician, the poet, the engineer, the architect, and all of these things! I simply do not have enough to do. Should I write more poetry? Contemplate the meaning of life? Both? Finish a philosophical work. All three?

Margaret Aranda, MD, PhD, the poet in me has been out since 2015 ;-) I have simply had trouble communicating :-/ You fill me with new hope! Thank you (^.^) I am involved in too much research, thinking too much... I can't think so much when it comes to poetry. You are absolutely right! Just "[l]et the poet come out" and just beeeeeeee... I guess I am a musical poet. I also wanted to be a poetic musician, but I had trouble keeping my instrument.
