A moment in the life of an insomniac
I have suffered from insomnia for the past 5 years. I won't go into the why's in this post. Let's just say I can rock the night shift really well at this time in my life.
When we were in Maine back in early May I wanted to get a beautiful shot of the sun rising over Penobscot bay, so I decided to stay up the entire night. The sun began to rise at approximately 4:20 am and I believe I shot photos until 5 am.
I felt like a child experiencing the wonders that surrounded me for the first time. It really is the simple things in life that still amaze me. The best part, the simple pleasures life offers can be right outside your door and they are free!
I will leave you with one of the photos I took of the sun rising just before I finally hit the sack.

I forgot to add, it was only 28 degrees outside and the lake was still frozen. We had a frigid winter in 2013.

Thanks Amour Setter! My stepdad and I were taking photos of the sunset over Lake Erie 2 winters ago when my mom was ill from her chemo treatments. She was sleeping and ok to be left alone at the time. I could tell my stepdad was very stressed and worried. So I asked him if he wanted to get some photos of the sun setting over Lake Erie. He was excited, got out his very nice camera & even brought his Tripod. We probably spent an hour or more just quietly taking in the most beautiful sunset I've seen in ages. I will have to find the photos and post a few. I think he felt a bit renewed when we returned back to the house.

Tried pretty much all the remedies. I think going forward I will try to source my quinine with a stiff gin and tonic!

Hi Don Kerr, have you ever tried Magnesium for the leg cramps? I have to tell you my husband gets them on occasion and the Dr. told me to keep Tonic Water on hand because it has quinine in it. Seems to work, but I also found it at a health food store too. Glad to hear you just go with it, then I hope you're able to fall back to sleep well! Ah, so happy you enjoyed this photo. I have so many I haven't shared. I need to do a video blog again. Thanks for your kind comment!
