A Fabulous Friday Funday!

A Fabulous Friday Funday!

a] look, Ad ran LL Wi

,

Why is it fabulous? Well, I live in the northeast part of the U.S., and it’s late October. Our normal temperatures are around 60 for this time of year, but we’ve been treated lately to temps nearing 80! And it’s Friday, the start of a weekend to end all weekends, because we’re in for three days of 70+ temps and sun all day long!

What’s not to love?

So, here for even more pleasure, I present to you some funny things I saw around the Internet this past week.

Let’s start with a loud AWWWW!

I still think it's a rabbit on skis in the middle of a

Alcohol and calculus

don't mix.
Never drink and derive.

Why do I think of Milos Djukic with this one below?

| Alcohol & Fats

( It's a relief to know the truth
after all those conflicting medical
studies.

The Japanese eat very little fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than
the British or Americans.

The French eat a lot of fat and
also suffer fewer heart attacks
than the British or Americans.

The Japanese drink very little
red wine and suffer fewer heart
attacks than the British or
Americans.

The Italians drink excessive
amounts of red wine and also suffer
fewer heart attacks than the British
or Americans.

The Germans drink a lot of beer
and eat lots of sausages and fats and
suffer fewer heart attacks than the
British or Americans.

Conclusion: Eat and drink
what you like. Speaking English is
apparently what kills you.

Double Positive

An MIT linguistics professor was
lecturing his class the other day. “In
English,” he said, “a double negative
forms a positive. However, in some
languages, such as Russian, a double
negative remains a negative. But
there isn't a single language, not one,
in which a double positive can

express a negative.”

A voice from the back of the room

piped up, “Yeah, right.”

And my favorite for the day:

Which one is YOUR favorite today?

Many of these funnies come from Facebook pages that you can access any time you need a few more good laughs. My favorites are Single Dad Laughing, I am not a grammar cop, Language Cranks Redux, Pun Based Humor, The Valley of Pun Memes, Wrong Hands, and Tannuzzo Copywriting.

If you laughed at anything in this post, please share it in other hives so your connections may laugh as well. Let's spread the fun around the world!

Thank you Susan. It may interest to know the exchange wasn't a made up one. It actually happened re our son at a swimming gala. You keep writing and I will do my best to comment. #19
And thanks for commenting as you always do, Jim 🐝 Cody!
Kevin Pashuk, I guess it depends on how someone looks at it! Thanks for always finding something to like in my Friday posts!

And it's so true, @Alexa Steele, isn't it? Thanks for commenting!

The nearest I can get to two positives making a negative is this exchange. How did he do? It was a P B (personal best) 1min 42secs Well done him, that was good for him. Meaning her son's P B was 10 seconds faster. I think it's called daming with feint praise.

And thanks for finding so much in the buzz to enjoy, Proma 🐝 Nautiyal! Yeah, it's hard to see the bird once you've seen the rabbit on skis, isn't it?
ooooooo--my smile is cracking my face it's so big. Thank you.

I loved them all, Susan 🐝 Rooks, the Grammar Goddess! First of all, once I saw the skiing rabbit, I couldn't find the bird again (at least for some time). That followed by the double positives, the essay on peas, the grammar doctor badge, and finally the mommy cat who ran out of toner, made my day. Thank you so much for the lovely buzz!

Yes, Aleta Curry, and once you see it that way, you can't unsee it! A really good metaphor for how we view life, isn't it? Some see the bird, and others see the rabbit. Some see both.

Oh, Ken Boddie! I don't know what I'd do without you weighing in on my Friday Funday posts! You always make me laugh! Thanks so much.

Another great collection Susan. While two negatives might make a positive, two wrongs don't make a right (but three lefts do).

Kittens on the nipple, Looking for their tipple? Racoons taking fright, When the light's too bright? Bunnies on skis? Come on, please! Elephantine jokes, By happy hippo folks? Dietary ills, And a language that kills? Funny though they be, They're all too tall for me. So please don't think me trite, When I say "yeah, right." But, seriously, Susan, I'm not cruisin' for a bruising', Just don't know what I'd do, On Fridays without you.
