5 More Minutes? Carpe Diem

What is in a moment

A snap shot in time

A combination of seconds

A poignant point of reference to a journey and its clime

I rarely think about their passing

One by one and two by two

And in their constant ticking

They continue unabated, all day long, through and through

They come in 60 seconds

1440 in a day

I take so many for granted

Yet wanting some to stay

I lose them in the nighttime

As I count my little sheep

But onward moving companions they remain

As I drift away to sleep

They reflect a constant cycle

These moments in my day

And I find myself impatient

With their passing, so cliché

The day is full of many

And on my clock they tick so fast

They pass in constant measure

How I wish that more would last

Wanting just a few more drops

And a return to days of yore

To turn back the hands of time 

A singer wants 5 more

In referring to our moments

Robert Herrick did opine

“Gather ye rosebuds while ye may”

A line within a poem, about the passages of time

Robin Williams used this line as well 

And then whispered to his boys

Horace’s Carpe Diem

As a challenge to those assembled, for their future to employ

So make the most of each one’s coming

In their building of your story

And cherish the gift of each ones passing

To seize them one and all, and make them extraordinary
